i'll be heading to the main terminal to go through trainer classes tomorrow.
i expect to train my students the way i was trained (and raised) to be professional and courteous. respect others and treat them the way i would like to be treated.
a lot of you might say i am not ready to train after only 1 year. i beg to differ.
i went to a school that taught you to be proffesional, safe,and courteous. not just get you a CDL and get you out the door.
my trainer was all about being legal and logging it EXACTLY how you ran it.
due to bad directions,tight shippers/truckstops and just screwing up on my part. i have learned to back in,turn around etc in the most IMPOSSIBLE spots (LOL)
most of all, i think, is my desire to do the best i can at whatever it is i do (from (formerly) air conditioning to trucking. which seems to be a quality lacking in most professions these days by us
prepare to have more professional, courteous rookies on the road (a few anyway)

Personally I think a year is a little soon and I believe in order to train the trainer needs to be in the jump seat and not the sleeper. Unless they have changed USA used to run like teams. Our co policy is 2 years with them and then you have to meet the criteria. Pretty selective with them as well. Swift used to be 6 months and then you could train, well that says a lot right there....

1 year experience does seem premature, at least on the surface. Then again, some folks master this sport way quicker than others. Some may never get it. Sounds like you have the right attitute though.
Personaly I would never want to train. Mainly cuz trainers get no say in who they're stuck with. Now if I could be selective, and have my pick of the litter, I'd be privy to training a nice young hottie. LOL

I wish you lots of luck my friend LOL You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink! I trained my share of students and some have good attitudes, and some have really bad ones. I could spend hours on horror stories of crap students pulled on dispatch, shippers and receivers, etc while doing the exact opposite of what they were told to do and what they were told company policy was.

i believe they recently changed it. from what i understand, now you have to jump seat it for 2 weeks before you can run team. and if i read right i get 45$ per day + miles during that time.
i haven't found myself in many positions in the last 6 mo where i felt i didn't know(pretty much) exactly what to do.
we have more say-so than some co's on students. mainly it will be on safety and performance etc. unfortunately, probably not on personal hygeine!

Yeah the personal hygeine is what I'd fret. No dirtbags in my truck. Period.
Hopefully the extra money will sufice the deed at hand. -

Good luck with that. Let us know what happens the first time you get some sorry sob that thinks he knows it all. Or my all time favorite. The crybaby that thinks he should only have to work 7 hours a day and get weekends off.
