Hey guys, having an issue. I have my class A liscence I got it last august. The school I attended was only 30 hours of training but was still alot of money and I paid out of pocket. Either way the training was enough for me to pass my road test ina tractor trailer and I also have double/tripple and tank endorsement.
I'm 25 years old and have a completely clean background and no tickets or accidents ever. When I got my license in august I didn't want to go otr for personal reasons so I got a job driving a tandem axle flat bed in Manhattan delivering scaffolding and I've been there eversince. But I really wanted to get back into a tractor trailer and I recently found out an old friend is a trainer for werner. Last week I put in an application to werner, but they called me back today saying I'm not eligible for employment because the school I went to is not an approved school. Even though I have my class A already and they would put me through 270 hours of training they still would not hire me.
So Mt question is if a bottom feeder like werner won't hire me bc the school I went to is a non approved school am I totally screwed? Will any other otr company hire me? No local tractor trailor company will hire me because I have no verifiable experience. And I don't want to drive a straight truck for the restof my life. Just really pissed right now I spent 2500 dollars to get
Go to the school and now I feel like I have a useless class A liscence. Any advice would help. Thanks.
issue with school I attended

there are places that will hire you, start knocking on doors. 30 hours for 2500 is cheap. I paid 2100 for 10 hours! thankfully I had a great trainer at my first job..
abodyjohn88 Thanks this. -
2500 is cheap, no reason to complain there. You can easily go OTR and with a much better company than Werner. Think outside the box, call up different companies, sell yourself. There is no way everybody will turn you down.
pattyj and abodyjohn88 Thank this. -
Werner is gunshy because of how much turn over they get. There are companies that will train you, as long as you have your Class A. I can't say for sure if they will hire you but:
Con-Way Truckload / Con-Way Freight
US Xpress
Roehl
These four come to mind first for me. I worked for Con-Way Truckload, and it was a fair outfit. If I had to go back OTR it would probably be with them.abodyjohn88 Thanks this. -
#### Werner. Do your research, knock on doors and apply to other companies.

Earl Henderson Trucking will hire you. Might have to go thru their training program but worth it. They pull reefers coast to coast.

You may want to check out MCT out of Sioux Falls South Dakota. I believe they run reefers to all 48 states.
abodyjohn88 Thanks this. -
Start applying to everyone till someone will accept you. Even the mega carriers have dedicated accounts that get you home weekly that isn't Dollar General.
abodyjohn88 Thanks this. -
Werner doesn't want you because you're probably over qualified
pattyj, TruckDuo, abodyjohn88 and 1 other person Thank this.
