Things must have changed fast with Frac sand in PA. I have a friend with 2 trucks and his own trailers running Frac sand and when I spoke to him a few weeks ago he told me his trucks were still grossing $10k to $12k a week and his drivers were making around $3k a week (he pays them 30%)and if they were off for a week due to scheduling of moving the wells or waiting to be assigned to a well he paid them $1k a week to stay home . He was actually buying another truck and trailer in the spring and asked me if I was interested in working for him . I was thinking about it but his drivers are out for 3 to 4 weeks or longer and I'm raising little ones and can't be away from home like that. I can always make more money ,but I can't get back that time I'm away from my kids and that's more important to me .

Several folks from pa that I know said its dead as can be out there.
Mad for water making that much in nd , I barley see any water trucks working these days. Almost none compared to 2 years ago. They must have some secret job they are working cause if the others find out they have work, they will go and under bid them right away. It's dog eat dog now. U brag bout a job your on today and tomorrow that guy will be here with his company cutting the rate. There is no loyalty in this industry. It's who can do it for cheapest these days. Believe that.
Btw sand took a major dump here in nd also.

I don't know what company he is working for ,it's probably about a month now that I talked to him. I know a company from Texas is recruiting in my area ( North East PA) for drivers to haul Frac sand and they say they have long term contracts and steady work here in PA.I think they have about 35 trucks and are looking for 10 more drivers. Could it be that Texas companies that got slow in Texas with oil drilling are coming to PA and under bidding to get work with the Marcellus shale gas drilling? I know the percentage that they paid the driver was low like 20% or in that neighborhood . I talked to the recruiter to see what it was about ,but the 6 weeks on and one week off didn't work for me.

I spoke to my friend with the 2 trucks hauling Frac sand and he told me he's been dead for the last 8 weeks without work. I though I talked to him sooner than 8 weeks ago but I guess it's been that long.
He told me he's busy now and should be busy through the fall. His reason was that the drilling companies decided to not drill as much as they have done in the past through the winter due to delays and breakdowns costing them hundreds of thousands dollars that the weather plays a part in ,which makes sense. He didn't say anything about rate cuts or anything, and I didn't ask . He's a good guy and pays his drivers 30% and $1000 a week if there not working just to keep them. If I wasn't raising little ones I wouldn't think twice about working for him..

I forget the name of the company from Texas hiring Frac sand drivers in PA but the
Hiring managers name is Dustin and his number is (817)889-3430. There terminal is in Belle Vernon PA
they are looking to add 10 more drivers as far as their ad states. When I spoke to him he said his drivers were making over $2k week and your on a 6 week on 1 week off rotation .
