Sorry took so long to reply Sledge but yes, you DO get paid for orientation. The pay is $650 a week and if you are from out of town (like I am, I live in GA) then they even give you another $100 on top of that for fuel expense if you decide to go home on the weekends. Orientation is Monday-Friday from 8am-4pm for the first 2 weeks. Some days you'll get out earlier than 4pm and some days you'll get out about 5pm (all depends on how big your class is I guess). If you are from out of town like I am, then you'd be staying the night at the Quality Inn in which is about 4 miles from the Jacksonville terminal. The hotel isn't a 5 star but it is pretty clean and the staff there are friendly. They serve breakfast EVERY day from 6:00-9:30am....the breakfast menu is the same EVERY DAY: eggs, grits, patty sausage, biscuits, sausage gravy and a host of breakfast cereals and Danish rolls. The lunch and dinner while in training is out of your own pocket although Centurion will treat you out for lunch during those first 2 weeks of your training ( I believe they took us out about 3 times).

As far as the training, its top notch if you ask me. The trainer couldn't be from a better guy (by the way, his name is Anthony). That guy knows everything there is about placing vehicles in the right place and the best part about him is that he seems to actually love what he is doing and not just trying to push you through training. One thing that I really love about Centurion is that about 99% of everyone there has either drove a car hauler at some part of their life or (like most of the women there in the office) are married to a car hauler. I feel if I had a question, I could ask ANYONE there and Id get an answer. As for do they work on the weekends, Im still in training so I couldn't answer that question because I go home on the weekends (in which I choose to go home, although I could stay at the hotel over the weekend If I chose to). I know they are a 365 day a year company (if you know what I mean?) but I think that really all depends on the loads you pick to get you by the house and If you are out of hours around the weekend. I do know that if you have hours to run, then they are going to expect you to run but if your hours are running low, then you'd probably want to be around your house (hopefully with a load that delivers Monday). There are going to be times where you will probably have to take your 34 out on the road (from what they've told me) but that's not often.

You will start out as a "C" driver (like myself) and be paid 23% of what the load is paid. But you will move up fast depending on how well you run and as long as you stay damage free (which is the MOST IMPORTANT thing to remember). Once you get to an "A" driver, then you'd be at the top rate of 26% of load pay. The equipment is the best Ive seen in car hauling (if you ask me) but don't get me wrong, they still have some girls in the fleet with A LOT of miles on them but they are slowly but surely getting rid of them. The trucks are governed at 65mph and they are mostly high rail Peterbilts. There are some daycab Volvo's and some Western stars but for the most part, all equipment being bought are high rail Pete's.

If I left out something, please feel free to ask...I'd be more than glad to answer anymore questions.....be safe out there and see you soon

Hell yeah thanks for the info. If you're still down there when I get back I'm buying you a beer my man, that is if you drink. Where in Georgia are you living?

Also, do you get your own room or do you share with another driver?

And no, you don't have to share rooms but try to get a "inner" room because those are nicer rooms but they are starting to not want to give the corporate lodging guest those rooms because they go for a higher rate.

Ok, look forward to working with you Sledge and yes, that isn't a bad drive at all! I will not be going home every day so the distance shouldn't be too much of an issue with me.
