I just went through this. Med card expired March 7....Got new med card on March 2 but knew I wasn't gonna get to Texas by the 7th. Tried faxing it 3,000 different times....fax was always busy. Finally mailed it in. Called on the 10th while in Texas to see if it was received. Told it would take up to 3 weeks to process but since it was after the 7th I was downgraded but would be immediately reinstated if I bring in the documentation....which I did.
The lady In Austin who I talked to was very nice and sympathized with me saying the whole process is kind of a Catch 22 as most drivers don't re certify till the week before and yet it takes 3 weeks for Auston to process it meaning if you don't go in person you run a huge risk of being downgraded until they get to your file.
God bless the state of Texas
medical card

The Texas CDL downgrade letters are being sent. I got a call from a driver whose brother is working in the Oil Patch in West Texas. The Oil Patch driver got the letter this week that his CDL had been downgraded. The procedures varies from state to state, but from what I can read, Texas has NO grace period, and if you get downgraded, you will have to RETEST.
Whose administration did this policy fall under? Whose administration just finalized Mexican Nationals being able now drive into the United States free and clear?
Do you think Mexican Nationals have to make sure their health card is connected to a CDL? Sheeit. -
As log as your blood pressure is controlled it is not a problem. You will get a 1 year card instead of 2year. Main cause of not passing would be Diabetes if to sever it cannot be controlled without injection then no medical card in my opinion have not thoroughly researched this .

You don't have to retest if you get it taken care of right away. As I said. I just went through it
-
The rules for all states are that your license will be downgraded if no current medical on file. You have one year to get a valid medical. After one year you have to retake the written and driving test to get it back
-
Bottom line is just don t play games with your living and just
follow directions. -
DOT does not want any person driving a commercial vehicle to have any medical issues...period... and you can be assured that if you try to hide a medical issue from them and obtain your medical card and then you have an accident resulting in taking a life... plan on prison time

All I did was piss test, eye test, blood pressure, looked in my ears, checked my tonsils/mouth, checked chest/back with stethoscope, pushed on my stomach. left came back a few minutes later said I was good to go, signed my signature on the "card"(more like a post card lol) and the lady at the desk flip the little laminate cover over smoothed it out and handed it to me and I was free to go.
Problem was I had to wait at the #### hospital for 2 hours before I was even seen...Ugh I hate waiting at hospitals. There wasn't even that many people there. At least I don't have to go through that nonsense for two more years. -
had a dot exam done in december, i kinda knew i had a bit high blood pressure around 145. 2-3 months before the exam i changed from drinking soda to strictly water. i changed my diet a little to but nothing major. the day of my exam i had 120 blood pressure and got my 2 year certifaction. then couple days later i turned 21 and lets say i gave up on eating better and water. couple days ago i went to the doctors they took my vitals and my blood pressure was 146 if that was my dot exam i would have got a 1 year card. i had my fun for those couple months and going to return to eating better and water again. so if you really change your lifestyle it can help you dramatically.

would needing a hearing aid disqualify me? I have a Bone anchored Hearing Aid and I am deaf in one ear without it.
