Ray and I are going to Vegas next month,he'll be calling the bank so they don't shut his debit card off.

I never had a problem anywhere with either debit or credit cards. Calling the BofA is a good idea since my guess is their paranoia level is a bit higher than my credit union.

Before i leave for a trip i take out a few hundred dollars. With BofA they froze my account 3 times already very obnoxious. If the cash runs out i either stop at walmart and get more money out or use one of my 4 credit cards.

one thing I've learned with debit cards is that its much harder to get your money back on a fraudulent transaction with them than a credit card just reversing the charges.

God only knows the amount of times I have used my credit cards. Then I had to return something. They always tell you that it takes at the very least, 2 billing cycles before you see the adjustment.

My question I think is very simple. Why does the charge go ON quickly and you get it THE NEXT billing cycle, but it takes AT LEAST 2 billing cycles to remove it/adjust it?

It's all done by computers, right?

Seems to me, they do this to get something extra out of us, like maybe perhaps slapping on what would have been interest on your returned item, switched over to your current balance? Sorta like the "re-stocking fee's" some stores charge us when returning an item.

Someone please tell me, at minimum wage retail workers, and the item is say $50, and they hit you with a 15% (minimum) re-stocking fee, isn't that about $ 7.50? How long does it take a minimum wage worker to put away something (or re-stock it) and the company feels it's nearly an hour?

it typically does take a couple billing cycles to remove a disputed claim on a CC. But, the vendor is provided with that opportunity to show some form of proof that you actually did make the purchase.

Ok, but as I said, it's all done on computer, so the proof is already there. no?

Whatever, I have been through that malarkey enough. So I know to expect it, just sucks.

I don't think it works that way, its not simply just putting the item back on shelf. Most of the time its sent back to the manufacturer for inspection and repackaging.

    Lepton1 Thanks this.

Yeah, I have bought many "new" items listed as "refurbished" from auction websites. Great savings for me. Full factory warranties as well.

But I have also been to some stores that simply tape up the box, and IT IS back on the shelf again.
