Yep, I agree this delay is notisable so with manual it would be not so easy to shift.
it is related not only with throutle and EGR delay and emission things, but not only. Other thing is that NG octane ration is over 103, so for acceleratnig over 25% dgr and it may cause backfire, so fast acceleration is imposoble, becouse if not to advance spark too hot exhaust may damage exaust valves and cat converter.
My LPG engine automaticly switches to gas at fast acceleration.
Other problem of CNG engines is very difficult start at below zero temperatures. There are to ways to start - to start with gasoline ore to use gas ore diesel block heater like Ebershpaher Hydronic ore Webasto Termo (80, T-90 ore other).
Unfortunatly if u have CNG engine - no sleeper allowed. Only LPG trucks may have sleeper. LPG goes down in case of leak, methane goes up. U must see methan sensor inside cab.

My truck is going in for a look tomorrow. It has a small back fire though the exhaust. Our other trucks aren't doing it. It also is leaking around the top clearance lights. I think they hit a tree or something during transport. The lens is cracked and the light is shifted.

Small back fire... check spark plugs
VARITHMS Thanks this. -
just got the same on my four wheeler. Runs smooth on gas, but jerks on LPG. Found bad wires.
Really higher oct. ratio gas is not so easy to ignite like low octane. -
as I can see cummins uses coil on plug.
-
Today I saw small truck with ISL-G (9 l engine)
Good news - no VGT turbo, just WG, so this turbo is more reliable and much cheaper.
Comparing with LPG setup on my Ford engine, cummins does not use six gas injectors, only one in mixer (may be that's why so notisable lug), for making mixture they use electronic throutle control and EGR like on your gas car engine, ignition system is like on car too. for oxygen monitoring O2 sensor, MAF and MAP sensors are installed.
Mechanically it is like Euro-3 ISLe. The same engine block, oil pan, sing cylinder Wabco compressor, bosch alternator.... all this stuff with 16 st ZF transmission.
Engine is not so lowd like diesel one.
CNG tanks are heavy. About 70 kg. But plastic tanks are of 50 kg. In Ukraine there are many local made CNG trucks. There are old made in USSR CNG rigs on road.
Good news - network of CNG filling compressors. But LNG is rare here. -
I know it has been some time. So far 32,000 miles they are working great. They use the steer brakes way more than drums. I dont ever remember my steer drums wver geting warm. Disc generate and holdMuch less heat. Best part. Dot doesn't know how to inspect them. They don't even try.

really CNG engines have no so efficient brake like diesel jakes
Dogman22 Thanks this.
