From whats been posted on here, you wanna stay away from Heartland if you wanna get any good long runs. Heartland has a thread on here, check 'em out. I had some good long stretches with Anderson Trucking (ATS).

Thanks! I see that! Now all I need is more info on Schaffer. Their thread isn't really up to date. I'm definitely lookin for the miles!

What I know is that Shaffer is a part of Crete (used to be reefer side but now I see about as many Shaffer tractors pulling Crete trailers as I do Crete pulling Shaffer). Some say there are changes going on that are not for the positive. I do know that Shaffer used to get 1.5 days off for every 7 while Crete got 1 for 7. When they merged the two entities, rather than upping the Crete days off which would have give Crete/Shaffer an advantage over most of the industry, they lowered the Shaffer time. Also, I have read that they are changing their pet policy to adding a pet deposit (around $600 I believe) this year, only to take pets off the truck next year. What I haven't heard is if that is a refundable deposit.

Hey, Pawpaw!
Time off isn't really a concern of mine right now. I'm looking to get as many miles as possible. When I spoke to the recruiter, she told me no pets were allowed. -
I was just last week out at Crete for orientation,(failed my physical till I get my BP fixed) Anyway, their deal is that pets are OK for the drivers that already had them in the trucks, but NO new ones. What the man at Crete told me was the proverbial straw that broke.. was a woman driver quit in Phoenix, she had 9 cats in her truck. It was so bad they had to put it on a Hunt flatbed, bring it to Lincoln and replace the whole interior..8500.00 so,yeah, enough with the pets,I guess. Also was told there of one of their drivers who tried to tell a CA. cop that it was OK for him to idle since he had a dog. Cop told him to get the dog a motel room, and wrote him for idleing.
