MY cb isn't even putting out 2 watts
is there anyway to get more power quickly
me and some friends are going on a road trip next week and i want my cb to be in peak condition (there's too)
the local shop just sells them and won't peak or anything.
i would rather not get a new one because i don't use it that much and it has a weather radio that i like alot.
but me and the other car will need the maximum distance possible
    thanks guys

YOU really need a CB shop that can perform tune and peak it.

    I know
i didn't mean to capitalize both letters
if i did buy a new one, will it be peaked?
Will a peak help me if i can find someone to do it?
    how much will it cost?

Peak and tune can very in price.. usually around $30-80
    And consist of
    Turning up the Transmitter's wattage
Adjusting the modulation for maximum output without distortion
Modifying the mike amp circuit to produce more modulation if needed
Aligning the receiver for optimum signal to noise ratio
    Adjusting the squelch range
    Frequency adjustment to zero tolerance
    Frequency counter display calibration
Calibrating the transmit and receive meter settings
Performing a complete check of all functions
Performing a visual of the circuit board for cold joints and flaws
Tuned to enhance the radio's overall performance

The hardest part is finding a good reputable CB shop.. Many out there but many are a joke and only wish they new what they was doing..

Well yes if nothing is wrong with your radio.. if you had a $30 dollar Cb I would not even bother getting it peaked and tuned.. Min I would start with is a Cobra 29

30 to 80?? i wish i lived where you lived, my guy charges 40 to even look at it. and thats pretty cheap to standard around here.

if your gonig on a road trip and just plan on talking a little bit up the road 2 watts can be fine...
if you buy a NEW radio your radio probably wont be tuned.

DO!!! NOT!!!! buy a peaked and tuned radio on ebay. they are 98% of the time butchered. they say amazing things are done but ive had no luck. always costs the same as buying one to get it fixed. (ha ha as i say this im actually about to sell a peaked radio on ebay cuz i am out of work :-/ and owe tax money)

... a cheap one... hmmm.... not if your local guy doesnt do modifications. if you were to buy a cobra 29 it would seem like your current radio on steroids... you can always get that one worked on if you find a guy... but the cobra 29 has an awesome receive. what do you drive? if its a car. try getting a magnet mount Wilson 1k or 2k antenna and stick it right in the center of the root. its its an suv... you could do the same thing.... Its the easiest. their are plenty of other antenna systems but thats pretty good, and pretty simple.

whats your price range for a radio? peak and tune jobs will jack up the price, and you better hope its a good one.
