Yeah I hear you on that brother. 230in WB with a 48 is real fun getting around those north jersey cities, truck on one curb while the trailer is hopping the other side lol, going into to these fast food joints backwards, you name it. Im pretty sure north jersey is gonna be my dedicated after I finish training. 12 wendy's stops, 2 of which are in malls with over 100 yard walk and 1 popeyes which is the easiest stop of all.

Gonna push hard for line haul. Seems they don't go by seniority here like a lot of ltl's do. In my class 2 of the guys they hired got put on line haul and I see that they now have an add on their site for line haul drivers

Here they pay .24cpm and 22 cents per case but with their on time bonus and clean truck bonus it comes out to .32 cpm, $35 for every 10 hr break you have to take while out on the rd. Most of the time its only 1 break and your just getting back to the yard with hardly any time left on the clock. It's two 2 day runs a week which average 34-38 hours per run. The pay isn't too bad for a green horn and only working 3.5 - 4 days a week, really can't beat that schedule if home time is real important to you. Beats Schinder, JB and any of the bottom feeders by a mile. I don't care about their no touch freight, I still get to have a social life here

It's pretty much impossible to not get the bonus (over 90% of their drivers do every week) Ryder takes real good care of the trucks and if your not slacking when your humping freight your always early to your stops. If you come to a stop late because of traffic it doesn't hurt your bonus

I still have 2 weeks of training left and its at 80% of full rate. doing 3 24hr runs a week with a co driver I gross a wee bit over 9 bills, thats including a 50 per diem every run. Its only 35 for regular 2 day run. so roughly 1200 gross give or take after I get out of training. These Nyc turn and burn runs are the hardest runs they have, pays better then all the other runs and still no one wants to do them, except for me I volunteered for it because I HATE taking my reset in a truck. young and dumb with a strong back haha The other runs are two 2 day runs where you gross like 950-1050 per week after training.

The reason it pays better is because these turn and burn runs are pretty illegal. Both guys working that 24hr shift, except we just show one of us in the sleeper and vice verse. Sometimes they'll disable the elog's and let you run it on paper if their real short handed, sucks we don't get paid hourly but i cant stick my nose up at making this money at such a young age with hardly any bills. Most of its going right into the bank

My trainer and I have been getting along real good. hes been doing this nyc turn and burn for 2 years and said he would consider giving up the extra training money to be my running buddy. Sick and tired of always having new guys to train that makes his already crappy run even longer

Also the girls in the city makes me want to move there, hot women everywhere.

Edit: forgot to add were suppose to get a raise in may because our main competitor just gave out a pretty good raise. Another positive about the company is that we are employee owned

    Glp Thanks this.

check out these pics. This is one of their smaller trucks haha 48in mid roof and 48 footer packed with about 1350 cases or so. I hate them, there so gutless. dd15s cut all the way back to around 375hp and im not even at the best part yet................It has 2.47 rears. Really guys good job you bought a flatland truck to run all over the northeast . Those hills on 81, 380 and 80 between nyc, some are only 25mph while were getting blown by trucks that are almost doing the speed limit

That attachment wouldn't show but I used to work for Sysco and no thanks. The work was okay if it was an 8 to 10 hour day but with everyday being 13+ hours I said the hell with it.

This is my last week of training then I'll be paid at full rate, I'm at 80% now. My take home has been around 750-775 all throughout training so after training im looking at 9-950 net. Our raise is suppose to take place the 1st of may. we're hearing it will equate to an extra 150 or so a week, That will be real nice to walk away with over a grand a week.

I talked to dispatch yesterday and this nyc run is now my dedicated run. Me and my trainer have been getting along real good so he decided to quit being a trainer to be my partner. Makes his life easier than constantly having to train new guys. The few weeks we've worked together we have a pretty good system down pat. We also talked to dispatch about getting this extra stop taken off. That will be a 20-22 hr run instead of 26 hours. the way it is now is were hitting rush hr traffic coming out of the city. Going from the Throg's Neck to the gw takes over a hour most days. It sucks our last stop is on the far end of queens
