when i took my test pre trip inspection was before driving so i would say he has not passed the hard part yet. they best thing to do is if you have access to a truck print out a list of all the items on the list walk around a truck for a few hours and physicaly touch each thing you need to inspect learn what it is and repeat over and over again till you have it down.

 

Exactly, AT my school we had a written pre trip in the order of how SC wants it done. I would come home from school and I studied enough to where I could do it without a truck or the sheet in front of me. Find you a written copy for your state of what they expect and study it. Get into a rhythm when doing it.
