Anyone can basically say, "I do not consent to any searches". Now, of course, the LEO has the gun and the badge and can do whatever he wants. But if it ever went to court, unless the LEO had some real serious suspicion you had something you shouldn't, by you stating that you do not consent to any searches, any charge has a better than average chance of being thrown out. Main thing in dealing with any LEO, unless it is a direct question pertaining to commercial trucking, keep your stupid mouth shut. The LEO is not your buddy. Idle #### chat can really get you in a bind before you know it.
There are two very good videos on Youtube that should be mandatory viewing by every citizen. One is a law class setting with a legal professor and a detective of over 20 years. The Second one is done by the Flex Your Rights foundation and contains skits of what not to do and what to do during LEO encounters. They are both almost an hour long, but are very good.

Sorry about that. I read all threads and find them all interesting. And I'm just a anxious student. Lol
Ditch Doctor Thanks this. -
All for letting an officer 'do his job' part of which would be respecting a persons rights against illegal search and seizure as defined in the constitution they are sworn to uphold and protect.

Problem with that $1000 under the bunk example, nowadays law departments are on a confiscation game over suspected drug money and such. Having that much cash lying around in a truck is a good way to loose it, and it will cost you more in legal fees to fight to get it back.
