Recruiter told us they have them on all trucks now. And they are switching over to automatics. Don't care for autos, especially since this might be my first job. If I were a veteran, I'd be okay with it since I'd most likely have years of shifting under my belt. I'm considering, since its a guaranteed $700 a week pay or .35 CPM, whichever is more.
May Trucking - APUs or inverters in the trucks?

Yes, lotsa brand new trucks with automatics are cluttering up the Brooks yard. Mixed reviews on them from Drivers who have gotten them, mostly slightly negative, but only slightly. Reading between the lines, it seems that there are some good points (stuck in LA traffic, for example) and some bad things (one driver recounted a scary moment trying to pass a slow truck over the Grapevine). Whatever, it is not up to us.
And as far as inverters go, yes: they're in there gratis now. And I had to pay for mine!
fun facts:
2000 series = Freightliner w/ 13 speed
3000 series = International (soon to be retired)
4000 series = Freightliner w/ automatic
7000 series = Peterbilt (soon to be retired) -
I just soloed out and got a 2000 series, I love the 13 speed myself and being a new driver I'd hate to get an auto. I'll take my 13 speed with 24x,xxx miles over that auto any day haha.

Nothing (I have ever driven) compares to Volvo's iShift automatic synchronized with one of their motors. Simply a wonderful stress free driving experience, especially in stop and go traffic and hill climbing. Manually shifting gears isn't all it's cracked up to be considering today's technology.
Voyager1968 Thanks this. -
I'm thinking that maybe Market Transport might have those.
(I am seriously looking for my next company, and Market Transport is one if the possibilities.) -
Thomas & Sons is in my opinion a better company to work for and they have quite a few of the Volvo iShifts. I know the owner. If you want, pm me and I can hook you up.

I was looking at Thomas and Sons but not sure they hire new student graduates? On their application they also have Truck make etc..they only hire owner operators?
I might sign up with May. I like the idea of driving an auto. -
I wonder if Market would hire a new student unless they really want the 1 year OTR first?
