Because I want D13 500hp , I think I can only go with eco torque ! I can add XE trim , side, top panels for aerodynamic but engine it's self can not be XE! If I was about to get D16 than I could put XE on it ! Dont know what to do with rears , was thinking maybe like 3.08

Thanks C02kmax
Somebody told me that I dont need anything more that 455 hp but somehow I think that since buying new its maybe better to get 500hp in a first place! Plus difference is only like $1500-$1700! Really glad that you are satisfied with your truck !Last edited: Apr 4, 2015

Correct but with the 500, you'll have the same torque rise like the XE, just a little more top end power. You could still do 2.64 if you wanted, depending on how fast you want to run. Our local dealer recommends 3.08 because it's a very small sacrifice in MPG but the truck pulls grades better. I think the 2.85 ratio would be a better middle ground personally.
oh, and remember to get the lower aero trim that goes under the front bumper too if you want to go the whole way
roundel Thanks this. -
2016 got redesigned bumper and trim , I mean it is similar to 2015 but they added little extra aerodynamic! They also did something with either roof or roof extender (wind deflector) on those new '16 for improved fuel savings!I am also gonna include those rubber extenders for side skirts( steps and tank areas) as well as hub caps covers on rear 2 axles (this will buy on truckstop $264 for the set of 4)!

Hi
I just bought a 2016 Vnl d13 ishift condo sleeper.. Great truck...One thing already..Bad DEF fluid...Screwd up system , had me limited to 5mph
Its in the shop under warranty of course replacing two parts due to the degraded DEF. My fault, I had no idea DEF had a shelf life and that there are people watering it down before selling...
I wont let that happen again....Watch the expiration dates and buy from reputable sources.. -
Thank you so much MCYPCT! Usually problems happen when driver does that or forget to close DEF cap or let the dirt in the the system (do not clean around cap) ! In this case it WAS NOT YOUR FAULT since you didnt know that DEF 's got expiration date ( I didnt know this either) ! Once again thank you for sharing this ,it might help me and others down the road!

I know nothing about DEF fluid, I found this that explains it, it might be helpful to other old hands who are not familiar with modern day stuff.
What does diesel exhaust fluid do?roundel Thanks this. -

More than welcome, its kind of interesting, but yet to complicated today!
To me in our modern times they're setting up cars, pickups, and everything including 18 Wheelers so that you must take it to the dealer when any problem comes along, so they will collect as much of our money as possible.
Of course I'm only a shade tree mechanic who only worked on my vehicles thru out my younger years, in my older years it seems they've out done me in this computer age. -
I have a 2014 with the 455hp ecotorque, direct top I shift and 2.47 rears.
Had it for a year and a week and it hasn't missed a beat. It did throw a code after it was parked in 40 below temperatures and the power to the block heater cord went out. It wouldn't start and needed a boost, in hindsight I should've left it charging and started it off the batteries, but it was 40 below and I was in a hurry to get it started. The surge from the boost fooled the DEF pump sensor into thinking that it was warmer so it tried to pump frozen DEF, obviously it couldn't and it threw a code.
I rolled it in a warm shop, let it thaw out, ran it and shut it down four times and on the fourth try the light went out. I took it to my local dealer and they got it to do a parked regeneration to check out the complete emission system and it was all good. Cost me $140, but I knew it wouldn't have a problem on the road and that was worth every cent in those crazy temperatures.
