You folks all make some very valid statements.
Everyone reacts different to prescribed drugs.
I personally have had bad reactions to caffeine more
    than any prescribed drugs.
Its embarrassing signing paperwork all Shakey, due to
    one too many Red Bulls.
Could you imagine what trucking would be like if you
pulled cigarettes due to the chemicals being unsafe?
    Cigarettes never hurt no one?

    Dumdriver and Mike2633 Thank this.

The handout we got from safety (which is a flyer from JJ Keller) claims that folks being treated for depression are now on a one year physical and need an annual certification from their Shrink. Seems like the list of one year physical conditions keeps getting longer and longer.

My bad, I actually did misread what you said. For whatever reason I thought you said "Go eat a couple xanex and time your reaction time... so bite down on that." So, I thought you were being rude and that's why I responded so harshly. If you read my post above yours we pretty much agree. If you need to take any psychiatric medication then see a psychiatrist and get yourself stabilized on that medication before rolling down the road.

It's all good. Yes, we are DEFINITLEY in agreement that if there's a medication that someone needs they should be able to take it. But not just be allowed, but be able to without any stigma. I've seen firsthand the effects of people living with chemical imbalances and it's not their fault. No way should someone be forced to suffer when there's a medication (several kinds in most cases) that would make their lives much more productive and enjoyable.

Not true. I got a 2 year while taking an SSRI with no issues. JJ Keller may be advising their clients to do it that way but that's their decision.

Friggin Werner....been here almost a week. Finished disorientation and then they bring up my cymbalta. Guy here at lakeland terminal is for one, a jerk. Two, i already had a release from my dr from original physical. Had to have THEIR form completed. Did that, sent it on friday. Go back, sit in motel all weekend waiting. Show back up to terminal on monday, still no word!!!!! Sent back to motel to wait. There are other horror stories with this process, but i,ll start new thread explaining this absolute mess. Grrrrr

There is a HUGE difference between caffine, and pain relievers and these drugs and it isn't my opinion but that is a common opinion among those who develop the drugs.

As to having a depressed person behind a wheel of a truck, that all depends on the person but overall I wouldn't like that. Not because they may never ever have a problem, but it is the doctor who I think is the weak link through all of this,

    Actually not true,

I've got a freind who was on this stuff, she was on low doses of an SSRI and her reaction time slowed a lot. She stopped driving for a bit until the drugs were out of her system and it was amazing how slow that she got using them.

I agree with you but have to add this again, that these drugs have to be reduced over time to change to another drug, a lot of docs ignore the pharma's warnings about that.

Not everyone on antidepressants kill people. Shaming folks into not seeking help at a low point in their life is the very reason truly disturbed people often hide their condition. Then, bad things happen. I wouldn't shame anybody going to the dentist for a toothache. Even though, if they were tougher, they would use pliers and pull it themselves..... Just sayin

Not everyone is depressed. I have essential tremor. Take celexa which helps keep tha anxiety down which keeps the tremors down.
