Is it realistic to expect to make around $1.50 for all miles to the truck running midwest, south/southeast? And some occasional west runs? As I stated earlier, right now my current contract is paying me around $1.25-$1.30 for all miles to the truck. I think a $.20 raise per mile justifies a switching of companies, but I don't want to have to deal with the NE constantly to make it work either.
Grijon Thanks this. -
Anyone else get confused between sadwars two threads? How about closing the other one and in the closing thread linking to this one?

Midwest and some runs into and out of the NE will do that. I had a run from Junction City, KS to Boston, MA last week that paid $1.78 all miles. Then I bounced through NH down to NJ (2.65 CPM), to Pittsburgh (1.53 cpm), and got out with a short load to Columbus, OH (2.15 CPM) yesterday. Today I'm waiting to get my load to TX this evening and then I'll roll home to Denver by Thursday. Should average $1.45 cpm for the runs to TX and Denver. So, yes you can average $1.50 cpm, but the NE might be involved. The best advantage is that you choose how and where you run. You can easily get better rates on average than what you are making now. Even if you got the same rates, the benefit to choosing your loads from a buffet of freight is so much better than a dispatcher giving you a few options and you can't see everything available.paul_4lp Thanks this.

you can do better than $1.50 all miles if you stay within the midwest to do shorter runs.
Like two 200 mile runs in a day. You'll get wayyy better rates -
Sounds great. I'm not opposed to going to the NE occasionally at all, but I don't want to have to stay out there to make it work either like I said. I much prefer the flat terrain of the midwest and south. Can't ever get freight going west of Nebraska with my current company, so that would be a nice change too.skyviper73 Thanks this.

Awesome! Not opposed to shorter runs either. It's quality over quantity for sure. You guys are fantastic with the help you provide here. Thank you.skyviper73, freightwipper and paul_4lp Thank this.
