So once you sit at a shipper, the problems of decades old pay rates, majority unpaid detention, driver mill scams, etc all magically disappear? Or are you just too lazy to help your industry?
-
Well I haven't read all the posts as of yet, and I might not, but I will say this about this particular posting, I am quoting.
The airlines cannot be compared to the trucking industry. As for team driving, forced as you say, or forced into lease deals, as you say. Those are the terms of employment that a person should READ ABOUT from the company literature, not from message boards. Then too, if it IS a lease deal? Nearly everything has been put into writing in which the person signs.
Once a person signs on that proverbial dotted line, that indicates that he/she READ the contract, or at the very least took the contract to his/her lawyer for scanning and then opinions on whether or not it is a sound deal for the person.
Social media means nothing to me if someone signs a legal piece of paper. Fail to meet what is IN PRINT, suggests to me a moron that thinks all is ok if he skips something here or there.
And the airline thing you mentioned? A long time ago, I was flying from one city to another. On the back of the ticket there was something about every effort will be made to ensure your luggage arrives intact. Something else about NOT responsible for lost or damages as well. Now that was many, many years ago for me (flying) when Tearedaclies(sp??) were the only way to fly.Vilhiem Thanks this. -
Really? I called swift talked with a recruiter two days ago starting pay .26 CPM straight from the horses mouth on that! Low wages and undercutting the freight prices hurts everyone.

Bottom line is to do your due diligence and research the company you are looking at. If you don't , then you get what you get and don't whine about it.
-
I won't name the company but there is at least one company that monitors forums and blogs >>> it is an open secret that they do. They do reward those employees/lease holders praise the company and punish those employees/lease holders trash it.
Now you can call BS on this one, that's alright but if you dig hard enough, you can find the information about this company and how it works to see I'm right (I said open secret). They don't admit to the reward/punishment thing but it does happen, believe me it surely does.
I won't name the company but it is very big ... very big.UKJ Thanks this. -
I always question people on here promoting that .25-.30 is a good wage.
-
No that's not it, far from it, you have to actually get on the road and see what I'm talking about to really get a feel for some of the BS that is used to promote or cover a company.UKJ Thanks this.

it'll be a few months before I am done with school but I will be on the road soon and I will finally be able to see for myself.

And here in lies the problem with whole thread ... we have two know it alls who've yet to do a full year or even make their first nickel ... but they are going tell us how this industry needs to be changed and how to change it ... lol
You called a recruiter at Swift and now you know more than someone whose been working there for 3 years, yeah right! And you're an expert on CREs business model? All you've done is spout internet - I mean social media -hearsay, you have no facts. At that's the key to any media social or otherwise, you better have your facts straight, ask Brian Williams or Rolling Stone.
I started at CRE. Ran as a company driver on my son's leased truck. Between, mileage pay, monthly bonus and detention pay - and yes they did pay detention, though you had to make darn sure you followed their rules - I cleared a little over $900 a week, not great, but not poverty wages. When my son turned in his truck, not hits on his DAC, no collections and he was paid out on his maintenance account. Now don't get me wrong, CRE has some serious issues. They are mismanaged, dysfunctional and disingenuous ... but hardly immoral, much less criminal
Pay is what pay is ... nobody forces anyone to take it. Don't want it, go someplace else ... no need for a social media campaign ... it's called market economics, it's self correcting always has been and always will be.mx302dad, WitchingHour and WesternEmpire Thank this.
