In general, freight that picks up and delivers in the northeast will pay way more than freight elsewhere. For example, a load from PA to Mass(300-400 miles) should pay between $1000-1600 dollars. From NY state to Maine(400-500 miles) will pay more still. Pete, the guy who started this thread spent all of last week running from north Jersey to Eastern PA (180 miles) and then picked up and went right back to North Jersey and was making $1200 for the round trip. He did a round trip EVERY weekday. The loads came from truckersedge load board. The loads are here for sure. Problem is when you pick up in the northeast and take it to the midwest or south, you will take a hit on the rate. As stated before, CH robinson will pay cheap rates. TQL and coyote are okay. Now Eagle is setup to haul schneider and JB Hunt freight, which is a big deal. These carriers post these loads on truckersedge, DAT, and ITS. If you need out of the northeast for whatever reason, fine, but find a load right back up here because it will pay well.

Northeast freight is annoying and driving here is tiresome and stressful, but it pays better. This is an industry wide rule. I did a LP with another carrier and noticed the same thing. NE pays much higher rates. I have numerous friends doing the Schneider choice LP deal and they say the same thing. You do flatbed right? Pretty sure it's the same thing in your side of the house. Where have you been running these past couple of weeks?

    Great info!
Doing short hops around the Midwest isn't a bad deal either. A recruiter at Schneider told me they have more freight than they have drivers there but rates will be better running the dreaded northeast lol. On the flatbed side of things my home state (Michigan) has actually been paying reasonable rates to haul steel out of there, for a change, but the wait times to get loaded can be worse than reefer. I made pretty decent money in the Midwest, but that was with stepdecks and RGN's. Flats should be decent till I can save enough for my own step. I memorized a lot of the freight lanes when I was at ATS and ATSSureway posts loads on their board at rates way better than they gave us drivers.

On another note. I'm in Butler, IN for securement. Got a call from Quality saying its a blue W9 up here with a headache rack already installed. Another driver turned her in so I'll be checking her out tomorrow. Could be back at it a lot sooner than I expected.

What do you mean, kicked you off his fleet?? Did he say, fine, go at it yourself?? This guy sounds like an awful DM. You can speak to the terminal manager and request a different DM. It's a pretty simple process.

Well, today I finally jumped out of that airplane, we will see if my parachute lands me safely in the weeks and months to come.

Today I turned in my equipment and keys, I quit so I can go to the Eagle on the 13th. Going to spend a couple long lazy days at home for the first time in many months. Maybe even do some fishing.

I am looking forward to this new adventure.

Same here hvacker, just getting bored in hotel. Ready to get this going. Spoke to my recruiter today at great lengths about some things she didn't have answer for. She did call me back with answers. She has been very helpful.
I did find out that I will go to Butler for load securement, receive securement equipment including headache rack being installed on truck. (Required) All this tells me most likely being stuck in Butler hotel for the following weekend.
Also, she did verify that we are able to book our own loads. She will send me a list of approved brokers tomorrow.

Excellent, I am not going to fly out until sunday. Will drive home tomorrow and relax until then. Opted to do it that way so I wouldn't be my usual days early spending money and such. Usually drive myself and leave a longterm vehicle at employers yard. Not this time though. Figure I am jumping in this for the very long term. At least until ownership.
