Oh wow, that's actually a lot more impressive than I thought it would be. Thank you all for the input. I know now where I will be going to school for my CDL. ^-^

Find a veteran O/O or small company and learn the old way...
That's what I did... -
Thank you all for the great input! I just had my physical today so I could have a head start for the school and passed with flying colors. Not sure when I'm going to be starting yet, I have to finish up here at my old job first, but I'll let you all know how it goes. Thanks again!

I see more people on this forum turn to mega-fleets and low-buck "trucking schools" based on people telling them insurance this, insurance that... can't find a company that will put you in the seat that isn't one of the mega-carriers...
It's flat out untrue. It simply depends on how much you're willing to look... -
Example that isn't 30 years old, or straight up B.S?
-
How about me... I'm 23 years old, never went to a truck driving school, learned around heavy haul, started in heavy haul, done a little smoothbore tanker and a little bit of reefer. Never went to a mega-fleet for a day, always drove for small companies, and now I'm an owner-operator... that's my truck in the signature photo.

Congrats, you should PM the OP with the heavy haul company you started for, I've never heard of heavy haul taking inexperienced drivers
-
How many heavy haul outfits have you worked for? How many have you sought out? Sure, they're not going to put a new driver in a 13 axle, but that doesn't mean everyone's stuck at five axles, either.
-
I never worked for a heavy haul company. I pulled a RGN when I worked for a construction company hauling my dozer to job sites.
