March 19 was when Swift terminated their lease ... it also said Star leased with Swift in 11/13 and was hauling Swift freight at that point.
Bottom line this will have no effect on freight availability ... if anything the loss of a certain amount of Star drivers will make more freight available, since they were already pulling Swift freight.

Then why are we so short on freight now.
I could understand last weekend with Easter, but we should be in full swing by this time of year.
Is Swift simply hiring too many new drivers each week to keep up?sisterannie Thanks this. -
This is the second spring break week and a lot of places that care about their employees shut down or go minimum . Also we have over 18,000 drivers and a few hundred loads short or over is nothing . Having been a company driver I know you guys are forced dispatch but you really need to look at where loads deliver and when . Make your DMs work for you during the week so you don't get stuck in a shuttle hub on the weekend . If you don't have a good Mac9 reason call your DM . They can remove load offers you don't want and find you better loads . If your DM won't do that , get a new one .

Petro Hammond LA. Couldn't quite make the drop in Robert LA. Will sleep and drop this in the morning. Yeah mac30 is quiet but I'm cool with that. I'll just hang here cuz I missed eating crawfish again. I did get some boudin tnite.
Very nice driving 20 to 49 to 10. Did get 543 miles today. -
We are not really forced dispatch.
I really wish that concept would vanish.
Forced dispatch gives you no choice. You take the load, period.
We have options.
I seldom call my DM about loads (like, just about never except to get the windows). I simply use Mac 9 to choose which loads I want to take.
Sure, there are some that I have no valid way to get out of. But for the most part I can take and leave, as I please.
And I really doubt spring break has a big effect on loads, because this year seems different than the past several years.
I guess I'm just in the wrong place this time.
I've run pretty good over the past several months. A couple slower weeks, but overall pretty good.
But it seems that there are more drivers sitting at this time of year than I remember in the past. Usually we are getting good and plenty of loads by this time. -
On another note...
Jimmy and the #48 team are leading in Texas with just over 100 laps to go.
Danica is 16th, just behind Gordon. -
Was talking to my DM this afternoon and she was telling me that they are looking at freight picking back up again around May and then slowing down again in August for a little while and then back up again in September until around December. Perfect for me since this is when I am taking vacation again. Right now here in Phoenix when she was looking at the board almost 80% of the loads here are all going to Cali and nothing really coming out yet.

Actually, it's not. You should have asked your DM to pplan you for both of them. Move both trailers, and get short haul pay on them. Not bad money for less than three hours' work.OceanDan Thanks this.

Sorry if this is a bit late and out of joint, but I was referring to the actual coding of plus one being a bit more than suspect. I didn't mean to suggest that the planners had anything to do with that. Plus one is simply a program that likely cost more than anyone is willing to admit and it's merely a tad more efficient than a large group of simeons attempting to procreate with an oblong inflated and laced pigskin, so they'll beat us nearly to death with it until something "better" comes along. I've seen it before in several industries. It's the executive "Did You Mess With It" flow chart at work.

Really Jamie?
131 miles does not get short haul pay, just more per mile.
And not enough to make it worth it.
Even if the loaded mile got short haul, it wouldn't be worth it.
I delivered my last load at 1200, then waited for a load.
They send one that assumed I would go right to sleep and be ready to drive 10 hours later, when I might just as well got a load offer 4 hours later...
And get my DM to plan me on both, for less than 3 hours of work?
Both would mean 131 miles there and back, then there again.
393 miles, plus the drop and hooks equals less than 3 hours?
Not to mention, I would have had to find a second mt trailer for the second move. How long would that have taken?
No.
It was a joke.
Just like your reply.Last edited: Apr 11, 2015
