Coronado Glider questions

    Could be. Not sure that really matters in the broad scheme of things, does it? The glider will still have to be finished up at the dealer, like Harrison. I would probably prefer the axles be done at the factory because it is easier and quicker for them to do the complete suspension at that time. And if one did what I did, and had a different paint applied to chassis, having the entire chassis and suspension done at the same time would be a plus.

    I agree I'd rather have the new rears from the factory. Nice neat package to drop the reman engine and trans into. When I bought mine they told me I was just in time to miss the FET thing going into effect. Also mine has more options than the the cookie cutters they're advertising now for $9000 more than what I paid. Little stuff like c.b. package, wood grain steering wheel, dual Atlas 80 air ride seats and so on. Either way I'd do it again and pay the full 12% FET than buy latest and greatest DPF emission crap. Nice to just get out there and make money with piece of mind. Oh and my mileage is calculated at the pump the old fashioned way. The ecm readout on the dash is always 3 or 4 tenths higher than what I come up with so.........

    Most people opt for the Factory Reman Detroit installed in their Gliders. You get a 3 year warranty on the engine.
    Add a Reman Trans, Eaton/Freightliner has a Glider coreless reman, and install your old rears and you are done.

    or install your used trans and rears. Do the paperwork and register the truck and then after all said and done throw in a reman trans and reman rears and have at it.

    Saw 1 the other day that had more patches welded on the rear end housing then I wanted to count :) looked like he was trying to get his $ out of the reused parts.

    The Detroit is a absolute dog. Let's just you don't pull out in traffic loaded. I'm coming from a c12,c13, loved the c12 it pulled on the bottom end and at lower rpms. Give me your phone number I'd rather talk than type

    Who did you have rework the ecm? And what specs did you update too? I need to wake this detroit up quick.

    Local guy friend of a friend kind of deal runs his own excavating company had the software for Detroit DDEC and hooked me up. Not sure of the particulars but made a huge difference in how the power comes on. Was real soft on the lower rpm range but now its like driving a mechanical engine you step on it and the power is instant.

    I have the same issue here. It's an absolute dog on the bottom end. And you sure don't want to pull out in traffic.
