The biggest advantage to them is being able to do brokered loads. They should be selling it every step of they way instead of making it a backdoor promise.

Truthfully the actual lease is run of the mill or less but not having to get authority, ins ect on your own to start a real business is a dang good model and there is plenty of money to be made for them.

You ask the broker ... they know if they are doing business or not with Eagle/Celadon.

But that said, one of the disenchanted posted that if Celadon was using the broker, Eagle couldn't.

And Loke, laissez faire doesn't mean lazy.

Actually finding companies - O/Os that will let you broker your own loads with their authority are pretty east to find ... And typically they will pay in the 85 to 90% range ... the trick is to find one has a good rep with the brokers, a good CSA and solid financials to where they can leverage you credit for parts, repairs, equipment and you know you will get paid.

I don't care about the list ... more interested in the process. I already know my primary broker is doing business with Eagle. I just find it disconcerting that something as central to the process as knowing who the approved brokers are, seems to be an under the table process ... how many drivers on here have you had to e mail that to now, who didn't get in orientation or from their DM

I sent it to a few drivers. I understand your concerns. That information should be put out during orientation. Pretty soon they are going to stop having drivers contact the brokers directly.....The reason being, is that drivers have been booking loads then finding A better load and calling back cancelling. Or booking loads and not negoiating a good rate. And booking to many loads in advance then something happens and they cant cover the loads.

I knew that was coming, can you guys see the rate sheet from eagle? My experience in having my dispatcher deal with brokers THEN me was they were getting a better deal, and not giving it to me. Im sure lots of companys do this

Nope we cannot see the rate sheet! i actually feel better dealing with a broker that way i can haggle with the rates and get more for tolls, dead head etc etc. But when your DM gets it for you, who knows if you are gonna get screwed!

    Loke and T_TRUCKER• Thank this.

And thats the problem. Dealing with the broker and haggling rates is the way too go, but when that job gets put into the company's hands that's when things could go south
