And who is going to train those new drivers if too many mentors jump ship?
Will they simply reduce the requirements even further to become a mentor?

Didn't us xpress experiment with putting 2 brand new drivers on a truck to team and "train each other"?

The majority that will stay. I think many people are really overthinking the cost to their fleet aspect about this. Swift has been a "training company" for a long time. They are the company that drivers go to when they need a babysitter. Swift has programs in place to think for you. They're a large carrier, one of the biggest truckload carriers there is. They can afford these cameras, just like they can afford the thousands of accidents, incidents, service failures, etc. They can also afford hundreds of trucks sitting.
Remember also that there are many drivers there, even older more experienced ones who think "If you're not doing anything wrong, you've got nothing to worry about" there. Lots that will rat another driver out for stupid stuff, like tattle tale kind of stuff. They've got those nose planted so far up someone else's ### because they think they'll get ahead that way. Trust me. These cameras will not have any negative affect on Swift's ability to bring in or maintain a driver pool. A company like the one I work at? Yup. Swift? Not a chance.truckon Thanks this. -
And England wants that a regular thing by going to the government and asking them to relax laws about having 2 permit holders in a truck together.

They better have a LOT of money piled up to pay subcontractors hauling freight AND training. Do they? Maybe. But they will lose a substantial amount of employee's and trainers if it happens. And yea I know Swift has a lot of money. But it will really drive a lot of the experienced out. Yes some will stay but enough ? Someone wants to roll the dice.

Read read a couple articles on the internet, "supposedly" the only time they look at the camera is when there is a emergency situation an accident or a hard break situation. They can go back and review the video.

Insurance companies can't mandate anything. They can only do what carriers ALLOW them to get away with. My wife worked in commercial insurance for years and I've heard the other side of when insurance companies try to dictate crap like this and most businesses stand up for themselves and tell the ins companies to screw, seems the motor carriers are the pro's when it comes to immediately bending over at every wish of the ins companies. I don't disagree with how a front facing camera can save the ##### of a driver when somebody else does something stupid, but driver facing and ESPECIALLY recording audio is way over the privacy violation line.

im a fairly new driver to the civilian side, but i drove fuel tankers for the army for 12 years...i drove for melton for a few months then left....im thinking of going back to melton...anyone knows if melton uses driver faces cameras?
