They are putting cameras in all company trucks. The video announcement is at swiftdrivers.com when you log in. tells how they work and when theyre being installed.

I just now watched the video. What a load of bovine fecal material interwoven with corporate doublespeak. Or, as a buddy said, don't (ahem) urinate on our heads and tell us it's raining. At least Dick gave us an email addy and "wants to hear from us". He may end up regretting that statement. I will carefully and as diplomatically as possible let Dick know Swift will be losing a 100% on time, zero violations, zero critical events, zero hard braking driver. Unlike the "phased" implementation my resignation will be abrupt.
HousTank Thanks this. -
Correct, Company policy doesn't equal law, but when MY camera holds footage that could make me possibly criminally liable for my accident, or even on the low end tack a ton of points onto my license which would require the legal system to do, then I would be covered under the 5th. Sure the company will fire you for not going by the rules, but who would care at that point? You'd have bigger problem (or maybe with no footage you wouldn't)!
They could also make you sign something saying if your late to work 3 times in a year you'd give them custody of your first born child, but good luck enforcing it. I was a contractor and contract-employee for over a decade and I could go on for hours of all the insane stuff I signed just to get working and when companies put nonsense into contracts and I could also go on for all the stuff I didn't allow them to enforce and their empty threats when I threatened legal action back. Just like the insurance companies bullying the carriers around, in many cases stuff only happens because people allow it. -
lmao so you going to get a job where you not watched by a camera good luck in your career driving for dominos
-

scottied67, Buckeye91, Kindle and 2 others Thank this. -
When did I ever say that? Having a general area monitered by cameras is very different than one staring directly at your FACE, and sometimes recording audio, which luckily is illegal in many states minus certain situations.
Ya, you could say "Ive looked around" or to be more accurate installed hundreds of if not possibly thousands of camera's during years of doing Telecom and Structured Cabling work so I probably have a much broader idea of where camera are or aren't than you do. I don't need to install porta potties, as I already have a job that pays much better than that, did I forget to mention that I DON'T have a camera staring at my face all day as most of us don't? So, no thanks, no Dominos for me.
Member here for a month, 3 posts, by your profile no clue of you even drive or not and your already quite the troll! Bravo!

I sincerely hope for your sake that you never find yourself in a position where you need to count on the 5th amendment to save you because your understanding of what it does and does not protect against is woefully lacking.
You cannot be forced to testify against yourself. It should go without saying that your camera, is not you. Your possessions can and will be used against you in any criminal case should they contain evidence of your guilt. But at the risk of repeating myself I will state once again, that your company policies are not laws and they are not a court of law. The 5th amendment does not ever enter into their policies. -
The big difference is that we actually live in our work place. That does not apply to other occupations.
Also, there are things we do while we drive that could be interpreted as dangerous - when they are not any more dangerous than any other driver on the road.
Glancing over to change a radio channel or adjust the fan when something unexpected happens in front, for example.
There are too many variables when it comes to driving.
The problem is that we are held to 'a higher standard', and anything we do can and will be interpreted in any way they want.
And how about when we need to idle the truck in hot weather to stay cool all night?
That camera will be rolling and recording, and at any time they can pull down a video of you.
