I have a 2007 Pete with the mirrors mounted to the cab (rather than the doors, as in the past Petes) and the CB coax runs through/inside the mirror brackets. I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to replace the coax? I'm thinking the ends (the part that screws into the bottom of the antenna) won't feed through the mirror brackets?

You have to feed it through without the end. Then get the end soldiered on. I wold pull my ceiling liner down so you can see what's happening. The easiest way to feed it through is cut the end off of the old one, butt ends with the new one, ans black tape the heck out of it. Be careful not the get your black tape to thick. Tape it more long ways instead of on top of itself. It you don't know what I mean I can explain it further. I would do it at a CB shop so they can soldier the connector on right there.

I've had to do this, the best way is to cut the end off the old coax, strip the outer case and shield, solder the center conductors together, tape the solder joint so the splice is no larger than the coax. Push the new coax in as you pull the old coax out.
If you need to, you can use a little dish soap and water on the coax to make it slide easier. After you get the new coax in, solder on a PL259 at each end.
Mark the new coax with a band of coloured tape every 3 feet, or start with a known lenght, so you know how much coax you have in the truck when you finish.
If you're going through the trouble to do this, use RG8X mini foam coax. Most trucks come with junk coax from the factory. Useing RG8X mini foam coax with a single antenna is as good as you'll get in a mobile.
