Conway Truckload, TMC, Maverick. Where to go?

I'm not paid hourly. I never said anything about ABF. I said NEMF. They take $1.25 out an hour for dues.

 

Op you can't transfer anything between freight & truckload. You've been lied to.

The only thing that transfers is your years vested into a 401k even then you have to start a brand new 401 when you get to freight.

No years of experience will transfer you will be viewed as a brand new employee. its really wasted time and to call it a transfer it a joke.

With the new guy in I'd stay away from truckload. It was getting better with Saul which is prob why he got shipped to mexico.

Just buy a pressure washer you'll make more... I'm not kidding lol.

 

Well, some new drivers actually are curious as to what's outside their zip code. They will get the urge when they're plugging along in a day cab or working the docks and see that big reefer rig with all the chicken lights heading Westbound to the West Coast. That driver with the hot thermos of coffee and XM radio heading down the big road! I did it with flatbed/reefers/tankers. Geeze, there's nothing better!

 

My brother does LTL, overnights M-F. Off weekends. Hits his 14 everyday and goes home basically to sleep and back out again. He says the first part of his weekend is spent catching up on sleep. He is actually thinking about going regional again (M-F gone, home weekends) so he can have more "quality time" when he is at home.

Bottom line is there are Pros & Cons to everything. Each type of job and company has Pros & Cons.

You have to decide what Cons you can live with and what Pros you can't live without.

I don't recall hearing that "the days of OTR are really over for....?" They're not over. Hundreds of companies want good drivers. Note the adjective "good." Is that you? So many opportunities it boggles the mind just thinking about it. I really hope the days of OTR continue for a while - I've been doing great for the last couple of years.
