Had you ever been an owner operator before going to AW?

Yes, at 5 different companies. All with great adds, that were nothing like what they promised. I was as companies that started paying twice a week , then it was once a week, then once every two weeks, I finally left when it got three weeks.

Companies that gat refused to provide me the rate con on loads that paid me 76%. Find out later their swimming off the top.

Yes, I've been leased to plenty of BS carriers , big & small. That's why I know it's good here & I'm very happy. AW doesn't have a referral program. I have no benefit in who comes and goes. I just tell guys about what I do & what I see here. Just like we all point out bad carriers. It equally important to talk about the good ones I feel.

Thank you Phil. That puts me at ease. I'm jumping into this owner operator deal for the first time, and I'm obviously looking to take my time in finding the right company to sign on with.

Phil I wish there would be more guys like you out here,I spoke to Jordan and he explained it to me exactly like you did,and i do agree they need to stay strong on the years of experience and csa scores that way the company doesn't get hit with problems and issues inexperience drivers will bring.

I've been trucking for many years and everyday I'm still learning. I ask advise from time to time from other drivers and find that they are always very helpful and informative. I try to be grateful for the work I'm blessed with and all the help I receive along the way from my fellow Truckers.

I feel it's only right to be honest and if something is good or if there is a little bit of info or advise I can pass on to a fellow trucker, then I do it. There are a lot of good guys on this site. They've helped me and I'm glad to be apart of it.

Hope or it works out for at AW. Like I said before, we can't post any phone numbers here, but if you wanna chat or are unsure about something during the hiring process. Ask Jordan or anyone in the office for my number and they'll give it to you.

I don't know if there are any other Phil's here. But I know there's only one Big Phil here. lol Good Luck

It's hard to say. Depends on how you run. I am a Chicago guy. So I would pickup around the Chicagoland area and head to the east coast. I'd deliver then stay out and bounce up and down the east coast for a few weeks, usually for $3+ Per mile.

Then pick up a load and head back home. As long as I was on the east coast, the deadhead miles weren't bad. Only bad part was coming home from east coast. Usually $1 something per mile, but I think that's most carriers leaving the east coast.

Unless I'd deadhead to Ohio, then I'd usually get $1.50-$2 depending on available freight. I personally would rather deadhead across PA and pickup in Ohio, the net return was better than dragging 40k plus across PA mountains for $1-$1.10 a mile.

Like me I said, that's my preferred way to run. AW has slit of really great freight and rates on the east coast. I know some guys don't run east, but me myself, I don't mind so long as the rates are good.

So it all depends on how you like to run. Some guys don't want to stay out for a week or more. That's where the money is at, I found out.

Well, I got the application process with AW. Talked to Jordon, like what he told me. Also got approved for a truck from Lone Mountain Leasing. Probably be getting a 2010 Cascadia midroof.

Do you get your insurnace and tags thru AW? If so my ask how much? Trying to get a fix on what my expenses will be. My truck payment will be $1500 a month, and I figure my fuel will be around $5,000 to $7,000 a month.
