Cummins is a high rpm motor peak torque is 1800 downshift on hills at 1200 your lugging that engine at 900 which isnt good for the motor.

Finally got to drive my truck over to Palmer Kenworth to get the headache rack mounted. It was set at 63 mph, but spoke with the shop and they are turning it up tomorrow to 75 mph. which is just right to me. Got qual-com installed at Quality today. The night shift at Palmer is mounting rack now. Pick up 9am, take to Celadon shop, turn it up, load my equip. and head out.

Yes when im pulling a hill i actually downshift closer to 1300 and that puts me around 1600 which is in the cummins sweet spot.

As per the techs at 3 different Cummins repair facilities I used to work with, depending on what factory HP your engine is rated for, peak torque happens at either 1000 or 1200 RPMS. Always reaching max RPMS while climbing hills is a 30% decrease in economy and the "sweet" spot for top gear should be around 1400-1500 while cruising. Yes, it may seem to pull better, but that's because you're over feeding fuel to the motor, but the efficiency dramatically decreases over 1550. Take it as a grain of salt, I mean no disrespect to anyone by posting this. I just know the insides and outs of these motors since the N14 came out until 2012 when I started trucking instead of turning wrenches after destroying my rotator cuff because of working on these things. What works for one, won't work for another.
rmacjr Thanks this. -

The price to play poker here is extremely high...with little return! I just got my first settlement 1310.69 per week in deductions, I'll break it down for u soon...if I don't kill myself....like I said my rates to the truck are near 1.05-to at most 1.27 a mile.......do what u want with the info...it's the real on them....and had me being late on two trips when on the Qualcomm appts showed no appt set.....or set for 00:01 00:02 and 00:03 other one was mead west vaco plants only open 7-5 there at 6:30am computer said 00:01 delivery time...so they do t even fix it or adjust it? Just deduct me? My check a whopping 468.00 plus what ever should have been added with the 10% deduction on my two highest paid trips.....I haven't been late in 5 years
but yeah I'll show up to a closed store or plant at midnite just so I can do a macro.....
going to see where I can bring the truck after I have quality do there free 30 day free work.....and apply to those companies....and if u are a eagle booster...tell us how and what u are doing to survive this madness?.....coz honestly the brokers I tried to get rates from flat out won't negotiate there rates up...I have the emails on those chats too....wanna see? Flat out crappy rates even more so when u factor in Eagles cut and deadhead miles..... -
