I'll put it this way. Why would you want to run more miles on percentage pay when you should be looking at the revenue per mile. ...Running more miles on percentage makes no sense..

Well even at JCT it still would equal more revenue as long as the planner can let you unload when you are early, but I'm headed to Schneider because after comparing the two that's more what I want, it's not milage pay therfore it's percent of load and the sooner you complete the sooner you can start a new one etc.
And the mandatory deductions are less, the fuel rebate is over $0.20 a gallon and YOU pick and plan yourself therefore you control your revenue based on what you pick and complete. -
Load planner has no control if you get unloaded early. ..that would be up to the customer..not the planner...btw I'm headed myself to sni choice next monthdamonarnold816 Thanks this.

Yeah I should have stated that better, the planners contact the customer or let you drop it in a yard.
But I've watched Schneider drivers on various threads and I haven't found a reason not to go there, the whole feel is different than JCT, had JCT still had company drivers I'd stay as one of them, but the current set up at JCT is more marketing than substance and Schneider looks to be the substance I'm looking for from someone calling me a Owner or Independent Contractor.

You just keep telling yourself that and it will all become true.....not.
Spent 7 years at SNI and I can say they were always professional and it is a good choice, however, I spent many times parked for a day or more because their was no relay available or you could not deliver early. Don't delude yourself on that.

There is a way to reduce the chance of that and that is to run hard on loads where you have plenty of time and your truck will light up like a Christmas tree on the computer screens of planners desperate to find someone to rescue a load. Getting a relay on a load that has plenty of time is a Godsend because you aren't going to be sitting for a day waiting to get unloaded. But your point is well taken that being able to drop in a yard is not taken for granted. Usually the local drivers are already scheduled with other loads, at home taking care of a sick spouse, getting their truck worked on...well you get the picture. I've heard every reason under the sun why there's no local driver to deliver my load. And I don't even know if JCT has local drivers, or SNI for that matter.damonarnold816 Thanks this.

Yeah that's trucking for you, I never depend on a relay or drop honestly, not even a early delivery, and I don't mind sitting as long as I can get a 34 in, I'm looking forward to this I hear learning which customers are dependable to have the load ready and will unload you early is key, so this will be a welcomed experience.

Thanks for all your help friend. I've looked at Schneider's LP program and read some comments about it. I've heard more complaints about Schneider's finance company that Schneider itself. I'm going to stick with JCT, mostly because this is the first time I'm leasing with a company....well I started trucking with C.R. England, but that doesn't count...and I need some training wheels to make sure I can succeed as a business. With JCT, the lease is just $120 a week and 18 cpm and I've heard some comment that the break even is around 400 miles. The point is, there is a wide margin of error, something better suited for a novice like me. From what I hear, around 2600 miles breaks the $1000 barrier on the weekly settlement, and if that's true, it's a tremendous pay raise over what I've been getting as a company driver. Since we're both about to start orientation, I'd be very interested to see how you're doing and I'll post updates as well. No offense but running 2600 miles as a lp and break 1000 isnt that great considering you still have to pay taxes heck company drivers do that get bennies not have to pay self employment tax and not pay the whole ss tax.

Yeah under those circumstances I think your right, atleast you know when you feel like you no longer need the training wheels there's another option.
