Well I think if you can do that physical test ok, then you should be fine. Tarping a load is only as hard as you make it. The tarps are setup on the load or trailer by forklift. Just a matter of rolling them out, then walking around the load securing them (COTC uses stretchy rope rather than bungees), if you are ok with the driving part then I don’t think you would have any trouble. When I was a kid there was no war on so I went to work on a crabber on the Bering sea and injured my back, the ride is what gets me. BTW thank you for your service to our country!

P.S. I plan to start a good accurate thread of my experiences with COTC when I have been there more than 2 weeks, but can tell you the workflow fkn rocks! As soon as that load is off the trailer you are on your way to your next load! Lost my safety bonus for this month in my first 3 days, lol, still made a little over 1200.00 my first weekly paycheck off just base pay!

Nice! I'm approved for hire already, I start in mid May. I know I can handle the work. How did you kill your safety bonus? How is the mileage adding up for you. Do you think you will clear 12,000 miles?

Trucks are nannied to death, had a "roll over event", went around 30mph (advisory) corner at 37 with a low center gravity load (the truck gouges the trailer brakes). 11 overspeeds in California and Oregon (passed 11 slow trucks). They are up front about everything, problem was that they are constantly pulling groups out of orientation to tarp or work on load securement, and dont seem to take into account that everyone there missed a few key things, lol.

Orientation was 4 days, which went pretty fast, they keep you busy! I got 3521 miles my first week running 11 Western. I am sure I will get over 12500 miles per month. Im out 2 weeks so home time every other weekend.
So far the pros out weigh the cons, a lot of great people to work with, good company safety record so EZ Pass gets you by the scales (over 95% for me so far). Average age of the trucks is 2.2 yrs, 2012 is the oldest truck I have seen there. Trailers and equipment is all nice stuff. Shop mechanic has the usual arrogant attitude but they seem to take care of business! And they have a heck of a broker/dispatch setup, Claiming 50 loads for every truck they have at any one time. If nothing else, the pay is not bad, and COTC would be a good previous employer on youe application later on down the road. Personally I am just putting my last kid through college, otherwise I would qut driving all together. For orientation they either fly you or rent you a car and reimburse any fuel expense.

If they can deal with me passing trucks rather than drag racing them for 5 miles for fear of breaking the law, then I think I found a home, lol. Also check out this thread if you havent already. http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...-trucking.html?highlight=Oregon+central+truck

Do you still work at COTC? If so I would like to talk to you?
