Nobody can tell you what the best company for you is. Everyone is different and some like this company while others hate it. I suggest you make a list of what you want. You can list many items on there and really narrow it down. You never know you might find a company that you will retire from. Once you get that down I would take the list and make a history of the companies you're looking at. Then when you start looking my my priority would be to visit the company if you can before you make any calls. It speaks volumes to a person that is doing the hiring that you really want the job. Nobody says you have to work for the large bottom feeders. Get out and look around, you might see a small company you really like. If you've expended all the efforts in looking around then do you calling. I guarantee you that when you're driving you will ask yourself "did I do all I could have". Finding good work is not easy. There are a lot of drivers out there looking for work. Just remember most of them are following what the school has said and are applying at the bottom feeders. Don't let anyone tell you can't do that. Most will say that company wants experienced drivers. Some companies will post that everywhere, but what's it hurt by asking? I have seen a gasoline company hire a driver right out of school because he walked in the door when they needed a driver. I have also heard the safety people say "we would rather have a driver with no bad habits than one that does). So speaking from experience I do believe it's in you best interest to apply in people. Good luck, also I'm retired Seabee.

It's not who you choose, it's who chooses you. Submit 5 apps, and see who courts you. 3 will jack you around, 1 will kinda' work with you and be somewhat organized and the last one will be on the ball with returned phone calls, all your questions answered to your satisfaction, a firm orientation date etc. That's the one you go with. Welcome aboard.:smt058

My bf has been with Boyd for a yr and a half. He's home almost every weekend and is making decent money. They do have a vet program too I believe. They take good care of their trucks and have taken care of him as well. He's in NC quite often if that helps you any. They do allow riders as well. I've gone with him and both our boys have as well.

Best of luck with which ever company you choose.

That's the best way to go in blind if you have to.

I can tell you this much. Melton will pay you well. They will also micromanage your every move and they will get you home once a month IF you are lucky. Mcelroy is a good company at 62MPH. I work for Cypress and we do hire in your area. If you want a regional run and home every weekend, they will do it for ya but you will be driving an old truck that probably has a camera in it for about 6 months until you prove yourself.
