I almost got run over this morning. As I was leaving the building there was a truck with its hood open at the fuel island, I was just about to start walking along the right side when it started backing up. There were spots directly behind him so I figured he must be having engine issues and wanted to get off the fuel island. Just as I walk in front of him as he's backing, if stops them starts rolling forward. I dash out of the way as he proceeds to drive forward. He gives me a "You idiot" look and proceeds to nose into a spot. I thought dude, you're the ####### idiot driving in a parking lot with your hood open!

The rate was great for Houston. Still below where I like to be but it set me up to grab a high paying load into York that I can get delivered before my settlement cutoff and makes up for the extra day down this week.

My former employer often had to run me up to near Dallas or to San Antonio to get an El Paso load that paid decent. The brokers acted like $1 a mile from Houston to El Paso was doing us a favor.

Yeah I usually deadhead to Orange to an account we have there on to Ennis to find a good paying load. I would never come to Houston if my kids weren't here.
