buy a 13spd and replace the 10spd,,might have to shorten the drive shaft ,,if you make the switch make sure your clutch will handle the higher torque too,,many trucks with lower HP and torque have clutches that can't handle higher torque, years ago I had new clutch installed,,about a year later it failed, shop installed a low torque clutch disc.

I had that done last year, needed to add a transmission cooler and depending on what truck you have u may need a different part(the one that bolts the tranny to the engine).also i changed the clutch.cost me 11k total.im running 1500 rpm at 70mph.truck pulls nice and i love not having to loose a whole gear climbing some hills.two to three day job.hope this helps

my 10 speed already have a cooler i wander if it will work for 13 speed as well

ok thanks alot, ya i will change clutch to higher tq... what about trany mounting is it the same for 10/13 speed ... same bolts and everything ?

U need to get the transmission number and check with your mechanic, and like 315wheelbase said u need to shorten the drive shaft and get a new shifter knob and run new air lines.

ok thank you guys for info

Most transmissions are a one for one model swap on a rebuilt. They may not give you any credit for your 10 speed or will charge you a hefty price to trade up. You will need a new clutch, clutch brake, shifter head, universal joints and transmission fluid. Your drive shaft will also have to be lengthened or shortened.

you don't HAVE to change it. you're trans and clutch isn't gonna shatter the first time you put 1651 ft lbs to it. If you apply it correctly, not jerking and slamming you'll probably never have a problem.
pigeon river trucking, BeN DaViS, Cetane+ and 1 other person Thank this. -
Like Danny said I would run it. K built a pretty hot 3406E for a friend of mine. His 1650 10 speed has held up 2 years. He is easy on it but according to dyno he is putting almost 700 to the wheels. He says he may retire before he needs to then it's the next guys problem lol
