O/O 10 ton limit ticket

Were talking about a traffic ticket here. He's probably looking at $500 for a lawyer and a good one. Chances are he'll get the fine reduced to somewhere in the hundreds instead of thousands.

 

First rule in court it not to speak unless required. Second it to only give yes and no answers, third is don't volunteer any information.

 

Driver's legal plan is good but they won't be any help at all for OP. Costs like $2 a week and if you get a ticket $100 gets you a lawyer. Cheap insurance to protect your license. The problem for OP is you can't get a ticket, then go sign up for driver's legal plan, and they fight it. Doesn't work that way. No-one would pay the dues and it wouldn't be a viable business if they did. You have to be a member BEFORE you get a ticket in order for them to fight it. Been there and got the t-shirt.

 

Good luck. I live in Pittston, and these small PA towns use the 102" width limits and weight limits as a source of revenue. Get a lawyer, but don't expect much of a reduction if anything.

As a side note, one of small town PA's favorite fines (about $700) is a bridge law violation for > 41' from kingpin to rear trailer axle. You wouldn't believe how many Swift, Smith and USXpress trucks I see driving around with the tandems all the way back.

 

Too bad your wife could not have fined him more. Moving a big piece without a permit. When big lds. start coming in or out of a site, the locals know what's going on and some will look the other way while some are looking for a reason to stop you.

Call ROADLAW, based out of OKC, they got me out of a big pickle last year and got my 18mph over speeding in a construction zone down to a 5mph over on a highway. I paid them $800 flat fee. And now I just pay $120 a year to be a member. They're pretty good people, u just gotta stay on em and be clear with em.

I imagine the signs have been there for awhile, but we have been thru areas where one week a truck was allowed, and the next week you had to find another route after the fact. Some times this added miles when a company driver.

 

Signs are clearly visible. One as you are going up a ramp and the other as you make a left turn onto 528. It does not matter if the GPS routed him this way, Local posted signs always take priority when driving.

If the company routes you on a restricted road, stop, call your company and inform them of the weight restriction. If they insist you run the restricted route I would suggest you ask them to have safety send a msg to your QC that the company will pay any and all tickets for the violation. I never did see safety send that msg.

You as the driver are the one behind the wheel. Using the gray matter has to come into play.
