I totally agree Oscar but I don't see where running legal loads and averaging 1.55 a mile is any better than hauling smaller od loads on a lowboy for 2.50 or 2.60 a mile. You still wear out your equipment pulling a flat or step and still burn fuel. In my opinion sitting and waiting on premium rates is akin to slitting your own throat.

But if your going to go broke you might as well do it in the comfort of your own couch rather than working yourself to death.
macavoy Thanks this. -
My lowboys only go out when one of my direct customers need them. Right now all my trucks are pulling flats and steps to get by, he'll I've even got trucks running power only and averaging 2.50 a mile.
281ric Thanks this. -
Right now its slow for everyone in open deck. I have a few buddies that haul reefers and they seem unscathed. If you think HH rates are bad you might be left w a bad taste when you move over to flat bed. I have a step deck and an RGN , no matter what, I can usually do a lot better w my rgn than compared to my step. -
We have been bite hard as well. Bouncing from the east coast to Mn. after a small ld. went bust for us.
And I committed on a ld. in Mn.
So I bounced there to honor my word.. Then that bite us in the backside and could not haul it.
Yes I got 750.00 for that mess.
Then sit another week as rates were just plain crap.
Then bounced to Chicago for a ld. via the quad cites to get rid of my booster. The ld. was a 6 axle ld. and it was a fair 6 axle rate had I been right there. But it's life. We still made money.
Then or reload fell through seeing how the boat was now not showing up untill maybe Thurs..
Ok then get a call about a ld. in Me.
Yep a 1500 mile bounce the short way. Well seeing how I couldn't go through Ct. I had to turn around.
The rate was a spot bid, So I was very lucky that there was enough money to cover my bounce.
This will still be an ok ld.
I will still be making fair money on this. But so far last month and this month, I've gotten more miles mty. than lded.
Still turned a fair profit -
So I've got a random question I suppose you fellows could assist: where do you find pilot cars and escorts? I have been asking around locally and havent found anyone I can call...I have a need for 2 in ct for about 16 miles, then just a chaser into ny down to the city limits. I've got in the boroughs covered, but I'm having a heck of a time finding someone to cover the rest.
Where do you get your pilots/escorts? -
For pilots the airport is best. Escorts can usually be found in the yellow pages or on a street corner.
Ok, back to reality. Other than the officer that tells you that there will be no points on your license or CSA points, Google is your best friend. I found these on uspilotcars.comRuthless Thanks this. -
I can't vouch for any of these, it was just a Google search.

Thanks fellas! I found the site you showed oscar-was trying to use it yesterday but it limited my search to within 10 miles...on limited time for research the first 4 places I found 1 out of business, 2 not the current phone number, and the last one....honestly I don't know if he does escort or not....3 minutes in and I hadn't understood a single word
So again. THANK you. Guess it's knowing what words to use as keywords....as cnsper was leading i to: I got a lot of dating service/adult companion business numbers...tsavory Thanks this. -
Look and see if Superior pilot car service is still going there in Ct.
Also I hate to say this, but Comdata has a pilot car division also
Call themRuthless Thanks this.
