better to have a cb than not have a cb, it's extra awareness, info, especially in bad weather, re routing due to traffic, etc, directions......i like to have all info i can about my surroundings, routes, etc.......sometimes tha bs that goes on, on tha radio, can be good for a few chuckles.;)......it's a justifiable investment, imho....

    MrHarleyDude Thanks this.

I'm a local guy, don't have one in my truck but one of our spares does have one. One day I was in that and was amazed how many people were on it. Probably because I'm in a city and theirs a lot going on traffic and cop wise. I'm a radio geek though, loved CB back in the day, had one in my POV, working on a HAM license now. Looking into a new job, hopefully they have them or if I get my own truck which is doubtful I'd put on it if I could.

How many folks would be alive today in all these "pile ups " if maybe they would have known what was ahead. I have seen the videos posted of some of these crashes where it looks like the trucks never slowed down until it was to late. so maybe just maybe if they had been listening to their CB they may have known something was wrong. I don't know just seems there are more crashes today than years ago when pretty much everyone was using them

The last CB I bought was at a garage sale.. old Cobra.. worked fine for the very limited times I turned it on.. only time I needed it was for when the traffic ground to a halt for no apparent reason or I had to talk to a shipper or receiver..

Been driving for over 2 years and haven't needed it once. Save your money and get a good data plan. Google Maps is more useful than a CB.

LOL... google maps have put many a trucker and cars out in the woods up here... good for tow trucks... not good for rental cars.

    I'm sorry to hear that.

Did reefer/dry van and NEVER had a problem with a shipper/receiver not willing to call me because I didn't have a CB.

This. In this age of cell phones, many people seem to have forgotten that on land lines, the general rule is still that long distance calls cost extra, sometimes a lot extra.

Land line, good lord, try to find a pay phone when you have no cell phone service... if it even works anymore.

You've never picked up at Bio Pappel in Prewitt, NM. If you don't have a CB and Sgt. Shelley is on duty, you'll have to check with him every hour, he won't call your cell and won't knock on your door.

Hopefully that jerk is due for retirement.
