Turbo, I completely agree with you. I've experienced this problem almost on a daily basis. I really appreciate what you have to say because you put into words the dissatisfaction that's been bugging me about this company. I'm so appreciative of your words because I didn't know if it was just me having unrealistic expectations (which may still be the case--but with nothing to compare my experience to, it's hard to tell), or if my complaints were legitimate.
The ONLY reason I'm still with them is fear of the unknown--I don't want to "jump-out-of-the-frying-pan-into-the-fire." Hoping something better is out there is what brought me to this forum.
I am really interested in the companies that took the interest in driver-relations. Is there anyway you could let me know about the research you've done? My discouragement with this company is growing unbearable, but I'm not totally sure where to turn. This forum is more or less the first step.
Thank you for being "there", I needed to hear it.

Swift= Two #### in a white semi LOL!!! -
Swift truck flipped over on I-40 causing havac in Nashville TN this morning. The female driver went to jail because her blood alcohol content was way over the legal limit.
I don't get it, what makes a driver think they can get away with crap like that? -
She obviously has a serious drinking problem. I wounder if when she was hired they check her criminal record to see if she was arrested for dui before.. I can tell you this not only will she loose her CDL, but she won't drive a Big Truck again..
-
We've had a couple of accidents here in NM where drivers from different companies were behind the wheel drunk. It is absolutely ridiculous. Just like running over hours. "It will never happen to me." We also had an Arrow driver a while back that got ticked off at Albuquerque for something and dropped his trailer and went on a rampage. He sure wreaked havoc in one neighborhood. Of course, he is behind bars now. I wonder what his DAC report looks like?
-
The news did not give much info about her other than she was uninjured and there was no other vehicle involved. I've never drove for Swift, but from what I've read about them in this column and hear on the CB, I does not surprise me.
I'll tell you what, I worked too hard and spent too much money to get my CDL. I would never put it at risk like that. -
Swift is just the whipping boy. They actually have a pretty good safety record compared to many. What you read on here is just rehash of CB/truckstop chatter. People always want to talk about "bad" Swift drivers yet they overlook the stupid things other drivers do, including drivers from their own company.
-
And I suppose all that chatter was/is just made-up sob stories? Some of us posters have actually worked at SwiftQuit, so we know the real story when it comes to the ol' blue and white.
Swifty's been the whipping boy of the industry since I've been around it. Swift has earned its reputation, and it lives down to it every day. -
You have your sob story and that is yours but thousands have good stories. They are just too busy drivign and making somethiing of their life to come on hear and tell "the rest of the story". You just keep playing the same sad dirge (you may have to look that up, oh no wait, you have a college degree so you should know).
It's amazing that a company that is so bad has so many million plus mile accident free drivers. It's amazing that a company that is so bad gets "carrier of the year" awards from so many top corporations in America because their freight was delivered on time and in excellent condition (which would doubtfully be the case if all the Swift drivers were so bad that they were running into things all the time).
Is Swift the best company out there? Of course not. Is Swift right for everyone? Of course not. But it is a good company and it is right for thousands of drivers who have been there for years.druid2874 Thanks this. -
I finally got my Truck Last week. Friday to be exact. My first run was approx. 975 miles from Lake Havasu, Az to Pueblo, Co. Second run was from Golden, Co to La Grange, Tx and have had a 350 mile run and am currently waiting at B.A.S.F. to go to Laredo, Tx.
Swift has been keeping me moving. and have been treating me really great.
Seeing how I'm still a greenhorn there's definitely a lot I still need to learn, but all in all Swift has been great for me and to me.
Still wish they had a pet policy but oh well. In a few months or so I'm going to look into O/O and that'll settle that non-sense.
That's been what's going on with me. So Swift isn't all that ugly. You just need a level head and a desire to get stuff done RIGHT.
My 2 cents.. Going back to work now... PEACE!
