    I currently drive for usx.
A little back story: I spent 2.5 years off the road, and decided I'd go back out with a pet Friendly company. Since their main terminal is close to me, and they pay well I thought I'd give them a go.

The company doesn't maintain its fleet very well at all. They initially issued me a prostar. I refused it at first, however the equipment coordinator told me refusing a truck would set me back a week while he found another one.
Being broke as hell, I took it. Figuring "how bad could it be?". It was bad. The ac worked for 2 days, it had water leaks under the cab in the storage area (which ruined my suitcase and a pair of boots), the windscreen had both driver and curbside leaks in the corners, the door Windows leaked, and the bunk Windows leaked. The bunk leaked so bad the mattress was soaked and holding water. The plywood under it was rotted, it was so bad.
Upon reporting the issues to the Mechanicsburg PA terminal I was informed the company only fixes dot violation issues.
So, when I took home time, I turned the truck into my home terminal of tunnel Hill, noting all issues listed above. This was on a Wed. I stayed out a month, scheduled to return on Monday.
Bright a d early Monday morning I come to collect my should be repaired truck. The shop threw away my work order, and the keys to the truck. Claiming I never turned it in for service, and would have to keep driving it.
That's some real good driver customer service. I refused to get back in that truck. The shop manager claimed it wasn't his problem his mechanic tossed my work order and keys in the trash. My fleet manager claimed it was the shops problem, not his (understandable). My fm supervisor made it clear he didn't care about the issues I had with the shop. The equipment manager told me to get out of his office, it wasn't his fault, or his problem about everything outlined above. I told him to issue me another truck, one that was road worthy.
He said if I didn't take the international back, it would take him a day at the least to locate and get another one ready. I told him to start the process.
4 days later, dozens of phone calls and the worst attitude I've ever been spoken to with, the company finally issued a different truck to me. It's a Pete.
    Awesome.
I asked the shop to look over the truck, a d correct any issues the last driver reported.
The shop was unable, or unwilling to locate any issues, telling me the truck had a full inspection prior to being issued out. I shouldn't have believed it, but after waiting a week my money situation was dire, and I needed to get moving again, knowing I'd need an advance to eat until payday hit.
The tunnel Hill shop did not inspect the vehicle, as they claimed. It also has issues. Not nearly as bad as the prostar, however.
The ac went out 2 days into my driving. The bunk ac went out within 3. The "bunk heater" ac component doesn't blow cool air at all, it just pushes hot/warm air out.
We'll, it's now spring /summer in the USA. Us xpress company policy States, as I have confirmed from my fm, and breakdown : above 73 you may idle your truck to run your ac and stay cool.
This truck shuts itself off every 4.5 minutes like clock work. Upon contacting breakdown I'm told: "you're set for hometime within a week. When you come in, submit a work order and have them fix it for you."
I let the breakdown depth know I have my dog in the truck, and I won't leave her in it when it can't idle. As it's 85f outside where I'm at, and the truck, even with the windows down and the felspar (fail spar, imo) running the thermometer in the bunk was at 88 yesterday.
I understand I'm a company driver. And just a number to these "people".
My father used to tell me, "son, these mega companies don't give a #### about you. You're just a number, and a warm body to fill a seat and move freight. They will treat you like a second class citizen, and your only option is to quit, or fight them. Your choice". I didn't understand at the time what he meant, but now I do. Everyone in this company speaks to a driver like they are a sorry sack of ####. Nobody speaks to me with any resemblance of respect. Instead I get attitude, contempt, and the constant mantra "it's not my problem".
If you're considering driving for us xpress, I recommend you look elsewhere.
They offer great pay, however I've yet to get over 1500 miles in any week. I keep up with my pta (when you'll be ready for the next load), my logs are good, I'm safe and curtieous on the road, and when I interact with customers and the company (the company doesn't deserve it, but I am a professional). Yet, I'm still treated like ####. And all issues reported, well, as I typed out above, they don't care at all.
Unless your truck has an issue so bad you can't move it, the company won't lift a finger to fix it.
Don't be like me. Avoid usx.
Please forgive spelling and grammar errors, I'm typing this on my smart phone, stopping every few minutes to restart the truck (9 times whole typing this).
I love driving. I honestly do. I love trucking. My father was a driver and owner operator my whole life. He was very successful, and I'm trying to emulate him. But places like usx make that almost impossible.

There's to many good companies out there to put up with BS like that. I'd be looking for another job.

    I'm looking, absolutely.
I don't trust what recruiters say. Using this site, and Google to find a decent company.
My lack of experience right now is holding me back from some of the real good companies.
I want a clean employment history, so I don't look like a job hopper. But, I am going to bite the bullet on this one.

Did I read that right? You have yet to get more than 1500 miles in a week and you're a company OTR driver?

    Jman82....
You can make that truck stay running by using the cruise control.... Hit the resume switch
.... The reason the it shuts down after 5 minutes or so a fuel saver system....
Flip the cruise control on and then flip the resume side ( not set)
The truck will idle alittle faster each time you hit the resume switch....don't tell them you know this trick (play dumb as a fox)
... Don't let them get under your skin (put on a thick skin)
. . .. . They try to make all drivers feel stupid so this additude is normal ( just smile and let them be them and you be you)
. . ... Always push them for more miles by constantly being up their butts about the next load or constantly contacting them (phone calls are best)... They will learn to keep you out of their hair by giving you longer miles (hopefully). . . . "Give it a whirl young man"

Cant really dispute the Maintenance issues. Some times you have a bad run and things don't work out. Ive had 3 bad trailers in a row. I make good money here but there are times Id like to strangle them too. Ive seen the 2 weeks twiddling thumbs while a truck gets fixed and it does suck. Being a new guy youre low on the totem pole too. Hang in there if you can. If you can prove youre a good driver you'll get better treatment.
