Hey Boys- Friend of mine asked me a question about hooking a store bought trailer to a military tractor.

Its been a long time and told him yes you can. Tractor is a M931a2. Last I knew the wheels are much

the same and will accept commerical trailer pins. The only class of tractor that will not except comm

trailer is the M915, which has a 3" pin. I hope I gave him the right advice. Can anybody add. Thanks Mike

When I was driving overseas the military used to get pissed when we hooked up one of our trailers to one of their tractors. Reason was their fifth wheel had teflon pads on them and they didn't put any grease on them. When we hooked one of our trailers it got the teflon pads all greasy and it was hard to clean off. As for the fifth wheels on the M931a2 tractors, I think they were mounted stationary and pretty far forward. But the kingpin size would match up ok.

Here is a pic of the larger military pin,it will not hook up to a standard fifth wheel.

Only a couple military trailers use a 3in king pin,,the M1000 that is used to haul tanks is one,,most use the standard king pin and newer trailers also have a standard electrical female hook up for the pig tail
