An oilfield company for whom I used to work gave us "vise gripster" roughneck gloves. They're my favorite for strapping. I've only been seen them for sale at the oil & gas safety supply store (for a marked up price, like everything related to O&G)

I would throw them on the heater and they'd dry out pretty quick. I'm not really sure how long they last. I was allowed to have a new, free pair of gloves once a month and I too full advantage lol!

Those sound like they would be great, if they're cut resistant you'd figure the straps wouldn't be too hard on them.

I need to try some of these methods.

I go through gloves like candy and I dont buy cheap gloves. Usually after coming home I hit the hardware store and spend roughly $100 on the padded mechanix style gloves for the ease and dexterity. Winter time I will have eaten through at least 3 - 4 pair of $25 insulated gloves before returning home. I spend more on gloves than I do straps and ratchets.
