We start at .37cpm and you move up to .39 after 3 months. Or it Might be 39 and move up to 41, not sure. But after 1 year with melton youll go up to 45cpm, 46 at 120k melton miles.
Detention is 15/hr after 1st 2hrs.
Layover is 50 1st 24hrs, 75 each 24hrs after that.
Any stops on a load is an extra 35$
20$ to tarp, 20 to untarp.
Working on a holiday you will get extra 30$
Hazmat and canada loads are Extra 6cpm.
They pay empty and loaded miles.
Orientation if you are new wil be 8 days and then 3 weeks with a trainer. Then you get your own truck. Most of the orientation is paperwork and goin over safety and securement, drug test, a road test, physical.
Paid 70 per day in orientation and training.
Anything i miss? Just ask. This is my first company and first job and i love it. Been home a day early so far before the date i ask. You can save your days too, melton doesnt limit How many days you can take off as long as you have those days.
My average miles arefor last year was 2400 from april-dec. I also probably took a month off in that time.
Average runs are usually above 1000 for me, most in the 1200-1500.
Right now im on 2300 run.tractorman1970, knuckledragger, LadyNicole and 2 others Thank this. -
That being said you will tarp alot. And you will sometimes get short loads. Just depends where you are at and what day of the week it is. Say you unload thursdat, they might give you a short overnight load then a load to keep you busy thru the weekend. Or they might give you the weekend load on thursday, depending on your hours.
LadyNicole and night crarwler Thank this. -
Thanks for that info. I'm just coming back to driving, and Melton sounds good for me. They will also let me bring my dog Gracie

I drove for Melton form over 6 yrs. it was great back in the 90's when it was a small company but their still ok, good trucks real strict on logs. But like most companies you have complainers and hard workers depends what kind of person you are lol
LadyNicole Thanks this. -
thank you Seano, Melton sounds good to me.
Seano713 Thanks this. -
No problem, good luck

Thanks for the info bnrobot. Can you tell me how time off works? You mentioned something about 'saving your days'... how many days off do you accumulate for so many days out?
-
1 day off every 7 days on the road.
For instance if i stayed out for 8 weeks [56 days] i get 8 days off. I go home for 5, now Ive got 3 days left in my "bank". Go out again 8 weeks, etc.
Also if they send you home morning of the date you requested off, that day doesnt count toward your days off. So if i requested home on 5/25, and they send me home 5/25 after i delivered a load that morning, that day doesnt count toward my days off.knuckledragger Thanks this.
