Doesn't IRT have local drivers in that area? Maybe give them a call, unless of course you're already teaming for them, lol.

I believe I seen an ad for Bynum or Oakley looking for local drivers.
Also R&L is down there, along with Saddle Creek and Hogan who delivers to Save A Lot stores.
Dillon and TMC also has local work out of there. Much better work down there then up here in the city. -
I don't know if they are hiring, but Superior has a terminal in Lakeland that is a dedicated local operation.

Try Watkins/Sunco

How much experience do you have?

Not easy to get on with but Publix is a great company and headquartered in Lakeland as I'm sure you know.

I started with Saddle Creek about 6 weeks ago or so. Not to bad so far. Getting use to how they do things is a pain, since some of them do not make allot of sence. Pay is much better than it sounds on paper, not great, but really not bad for 5 days a week and home every day, I do not think 50k is out of the question for the first year. I am on the grocery side, bread fleet was not what I was looking for.
I was with Badcock furniture for a year, they were not bad either. I liked working with my dispatcher and transportation fleet manager. But it was 6 days per week, unloading furniture and appliances in all weather, and was not much more money than I am doing now in 5 days. -
I got some emails from CTC the other day. Said they were looking for driver from around the area,.. Jacksonville, Tampa, Brooksville,.. cant recall if Lakeland was mentioned. I delete everything I get from them. But its like 45 mins to their terminal in Tampa from Lakeland. Not the most ideal,.. but better than no work and you can keep putting out feelers until you land something better.
I think if you can get on with Publix there in Lakeland you will at least be earning decent money for local work in Fla. I have a friend who makes $21hr as a forklift operator there.
