Hey, I was wondering what are some of the best states and cities to live in to be a car hauler. And the respective companies that are big in said states. Bonus for companies that also accept owneroperators. From what I've seen so far, Texas, Alabama, Georgia, and Florida?

I work in the oilfield and was thinking of maybe giving car hauling a shot. I would like to eventually become an o/o as I've saved up enough to buy a used rig in cash, but I want to see if I even like car hauling and want to try it out for a year or so as a company driver. What I'm worried about is that a lot of places say like 2-3 years of OTR, does oilfield driving count? I got 6 months OTR and 1 year oilfield, Cause the #### I've had to deal with in the oilfield was way more tough and extreme than driving in los angeles rush hour for schneider.

That is a broad question. It depends what you are looking for. An assembly plant has opportunities provided they are cranking out vehicles. Usually mid length and local hauls (the long stuff goes on rail). Except working out of the GM Bowling Green, KY plant (Corvettes) you could wind up with a 10 way split ending up on the west coast. Same with a railroad auto unloading ramp. The difference being there are multiple carlines / manufacturers going into a railhead and the hauls are usually local and short line road. Every area or major city in the US either has an Adesa or Manheim (or both) auction site, and therefore there are vehicles moving into and out of those sites.
