That must be a very bad feeling when one goes under an underpass hitting the underpass. Something I have never done. Once I was pulling a cement tanker and come of a very low railroad underpass. There was no traffic so I pulled up close to the underpass, got out, climbed the ladder on back of the tanker, and it looked as if it I had about 1 to 1&1/2 inches. Them I got back in, and very slowly went under the underpass ready to hit my clutch and brake if I heard or felt it hit the underpass.

Prayers for all that was involved.

Jeez... that one looks awful. Condolences to the family of that driver.

    And on another note:
Really? A man died here. How would this be the appropriate place for a joke? Show some respect for ####s sake.

Go back and study the number of truck crashes that ended in instant fire of todays truck crashes and compare to truck crashes 10 years (before catalytic inverters sitting between fuel tanks ... CARB) 10 years ago, a truck crash that caught fire was almost unheard of. But just go back through just here on TTR crashes forum and read how many recent [major] truck crashes resulted in the truck burning to the ground. The percentage must be in excess of 40%

In this case, the fire may have been what killed the non-driving passenger in the sleeper. He might have survived the crash if it wan't for the subsequent fire.

I remember a brand new beautiful red Pete wrecked in the median going west into Arizonian on I-10 just across the state line. I believe that was in about 79. But back in that day it was unusual for a single truck to wreck them catch on fire.

This SArkansas OldHasBeen truck driver agrees with you the STexan, it does seems in truck wrecks today that many more of them catch afire with those in the truck getting burned up if they cannot quickly escape the truck. And it may be the same case for our modern day cars.
