Henderson has something like 350 drivers. How do you figure that is big? Live on the road? Everyone I talk to tells me you can take home time after two weeks or stay out as long as you like. Don't know about their financial situation but it seems to me that if a company finds a smart way to make money and keep people employed, it speaks volumes for those in charge. I mean, I am sure Josh has enough money to where he would never have to work again. Yet he found a way to save the company and peoples jobs if what you say is true. How is that a bad thing?
bad company ...lies lies lies ...and it starts with recruiting

Hi average joe,
How are you?
I do see where you are coming from.
It has been many years since I have run a red light. I mentioned this along with everything else because I wanted to be TRUTHFUL about my past driving record.
I do not take insulin. I am have not been diagnosed with diabetes.
Also, I want to be a truck driver, not a lumper. I was trying to say that I do not have any problems helping to load or unload freight onto and off of the trailers.
God bless you and your family! God bless the U.S.A.!Last edited: May 25, 2015

Mje, when the time comes, start your own lumper company. After a while when you learn what these places charge, elect to do it yourself and maybe offer a bit of a price decrease. They'll probably pay you. Just make sure you record it all on line 4 ............................
MidwestResident Thanks this. -
I did not say they were big (even tho they are in bed with prime) I said they did big company BS like have on guard on all of there trucks. Take a lot of short trips. Don't respect driver etc. I have two friends one still works there. One quit. They want otr guys on the the road at least 3 weeks to a month. They can't be making much Because prime hauls cheap freight and cut peoples throats to get it. So If prime takes a cut That does not leave much. Henderson was a decent company years ago. Its just an extension of prime now. And if your vegan I wouldn't suggest henderson or any reefer outfit. lol and Im not sure of the financial security of the owner. I do know when he took over he took a ok company and ran it in the ground.

How do you know prime hauls "cheap" freight? Do you know what rates they are hauling for? How does it compare to how much you are paid for similar work?
-
I know they came in and cut a company I was driving for rates. They haul ice cream out od california for 1.38 a mile. Big companies haul cheap freight. they can't sell speed/service.
-
If paid by the mile It does not matter if percentage then you get a percentage of there rate.
-
I have a hard time believing you they are moving ice cream out of Cali for 1.38.
Don't forget the big guy might not be able to sell the same level of service, but he can offer volume and drop trailers at shippers and receivers, which the independent cannot. They also have way more overhead as far as office personnel than someone like me who does all the billing ifta dot compliance all of it myself. They also tend to hire drivers who cause more mishap damage to equipment. I guess they make up for that in reduced insurance rates and lower driver pay. But don't kid yourself, the huge company is not always hauling for the lowest price ... Do you remember a few months ago when shippers were worried about capacity rather than price?JMichael Thanks this. -
Im not saying every load they haul is cheap they have there contracts as well. But big companies haul a lot of cheap freight.
-
They haul cheap freight because they can afford to , if you have 1,000 trucks with an overall fleet average of 600 miles per day per truck and even if you only had a $0.02 / mile PROFIT ( after all expenses ) and run the trucks an average 300 days a year that's $3,600,000.00 in PROFIT
