I am sorry to hear they don't hire in your area. They are not perfect but I know that anything would be an improvement over driving for WESTERN EXPRESS.

One last truck stop on this monster 4-day, 350-mile trip. Yeah, that's right; less than 150 miles a day. They do that a lot; Western is mainly a Monday-Friday company since most of their customers are, too. It's irritating to get thee short mile, many days trip, especially on a holiday weekend.
I wish I would win the lottery and just give all this up. At least I'm at a truck stop befor the afternoon madness of the returning Chicagoans! Been there, got stuck in that traffic jam. I do not mind having an 11:00 AM delivery tomorrow and being 20 miles away. -
Well I just got home after 25 days on the road. I don't usually stay out for that long but after taking such
a long break I figured why not? I don't go back till next weekend, probably June 6th. They told me to give
them a call next Friday to see what loads they have available. I was told they want to let me select what
type of load that goes where I want to go. They have been running me pretty good, I only sat for one day
and they paid me $75 layover pay for that. They are giving all their drivers a 3 cpm pay raise staring on
June 1st, I can't complain about that. I went in the terminal in Lawrenceburg yesterday and they where
having a big party-Driver Appreciation Day event. They asked me to hang around for the free prizes and
food but I decided not to since I wanted too get home ASAP. They have a new driver lounge with all the
amenities. Nice comfortable furniture. Giant Flat Screen TV, with cable. They even have a computer for
the drivers in the lounge with free internet access. As it was when I was driving with them before they
treat me like I am part of their family. They have late model well maintained equipment. Frieghtliner
Cascadias with 10 speed transmissions and International Prostars with Automatic transmissions. I am
very happy to be back driving with SEC and I think they are heading in the right direction to keep their
drivers satisfied and productive. This is a very good company to work for.Last edited: May 30, 2015

Lucky you. You miss the nationwide Level 1 inspection frenzy...and get a pay raise to boot!

What's worse than driving for them is spending the weekends waiting for the weekend staff to send me a load!
I. Hate. Waiting!Air Breeze Thanks this. -
When I discovered that I was getting back home when I did, I realized that I would miss the nationwide
inspection blitz. It's just just more DOT B.S anyway. It's all more smoke and mirrors by the government
to brainwash the media and public into thinking they are really doing their job to make the roads safer. I
noticed over the Memorial Day weekend that when I drove from South Carolina to Texas that I never saw
even one Weight Station open anywhere. All of them where off enjoying their paid holiday courtesy off
the American Tax Payer. If they wanted to improve highway safety and reduce CMV accidents they would.
It's a big money maker for everyone involved when accidents happen. Lawyers, Towing companies. The
media sells more advertisements, nothing like a nasty accident to get peoples attention is there? A lot
more people and companies also benefit from the status quo, but it would take me to long to list all of them.Last edited: May 30, 2015

Yes they have a much better insurance plan now. It's comparable to what other companies
are offering. The only thing they don't offer is long or short term disability. It's available after
60 days of employment. They have two different plans. I signed up for it but I haven't decided
yet which plan I will go with. If your interested in the specifics the lady at SEC who handles
the insurance can give you a better run down on it they I can. That pay raise will start you at
40 cpm. There is no pay cap. You get a 1 cpm raise every year on your anniversary hire date.RoadCall Thanks this. -
Well first week is almost over. I'm at the yard for my 10 hour break. Dispatch got me a load waiting here on the yard that is a little over 600 miles that I can deliver tomorrow. Which will give me 2300 miles for 3.75 day . I knew coming back was a good idea lol

They are the best trucking company that I have ever driven for. It's not all about the money with me.
