Occasionally when I get around a a large city. My CB will mysteriously turn it's self on with a deafening high pitched ring. And I can't turn it off because it is turned off. I just have to wait till its done. Does any one know what this could be? Personaly I have to suspicions. Either it's Aliens or The government.
Crazy high pitch ring, with CB off.

Yep. It does that if you have the weather knob on anything but "OFF" - freaked me out the first done it happened to me, not long after I bought my 25 WX NW ST years ago.

Had CB shop put a seperate switch so that I can cut total power to my CB weather band if it does that. He also said it's the weather band alert warning.

Had that happen so many times too in the middle of the night. Some are saying here it's a weather alert, but why would they only be sent out alerts at night? Weather happens at all times of the day. I noticed it only when I got into certain areas, most frequent spot was around Allentown, PA.

Have a shop remove the power transistor on the main board by the channel switch which turns it on with the alert control circuit. That way all front controls act exactly as they did before (no extra switch required). You see its cloudy turn on the weather for info as you did before. The only difference you will have is the radio will not momentarily flash on when you connect power, and you will finally get to sleep all night without an alert. My guess is there are signals being generated (by who knows what devices) in cities which are triggering the alert even if there is no NOAA signal at the time.
OTRSuperTrucker and EndHatred Thank this.
