Vegan trucker, are you being paid for all of those miles or just the ones you drove of them? I'm not sure how that bit is supposed to work.
-
Thanks! I'm looking forward to it. I was doing some math earlier and realized that there's a chance that I may not make any better a living than I am now, but at least I won't be pulling ridiculous hours and schedules in a kitchen, in a restaurant full of junkies and drama queens (a.k.a. crazy-people). And that is a kind of stress that I'm surprised I've been able to handle this long.

I get paid .15cpm for all miles the truck drives. I've been out here 2 1/2 weeks and I'm upgrading Tuesday. Once I get 8,000 miles I get bumped up to .38 CPM. Which should be around next Tuesday!

VeganTrucker,
I don't know why, but I keep thinking that .22cpm would be about all I'd get for the first few years. I'm assuming low, just in case. There's no reason not to be as prepared as possible for a less than savory beginning. My only main worry is that I won't be able to get my CDL/screw up really bad early on and ruin my career. -
Don't worry about screwing up. Being tense will make that happen. Just relax. You'll get into the groove of driving pretty quickly. You'll have no choice! Lol. And .22 CPM is garbage. Most companies start you out at around .30. As stated, essentially, I'm making .30 during my training. Because im making .15 for both me and my trainer. Once im done, I'll get .38. Which is decent for a start. After your first year, if you stay company or work regional/local, .40-.60 is pretty standard.

Vegan, just curious as to how things are going. I'm either signing on with Henderson or a flatbed company...struggling with the decision. A little concerned with the lack of info on Henderson so any insight would great. I am aware of the pay and all just wondering about the things you find out after you are there for a month, the people, equipment, vibe from the employees and such.
