sample not every oil change just once lets say at 20k after the oil change ONLY ONCE. to check viscosity and other oil characteristics which are probably not so good after 20k

For a one truck owner change your oil every 15,000 miles and do a grease job at the same time,,changing your oil at 15,000 does not cost you much each year, Extended oil changes are done by many carrier because the sell off their trucks before 500,000 miles and don't worry about shortened engine life. Greasing every 15,000 miles I have never had to replace king pins on the front axle, tie rod ends or u-joints in over 1 million miles, Oil and grease are a lot cheaper than an early overhaul or replacing front end parts, you need to get under the truck and look very regularly to make sure everything is OK.
At 400,000 your need to get an oil sample and have it checked every 100,000 miles

i used to change on a 5k mile interval now running 10-15k on synthetic. but what i do would be considered kinda severe duty work. i grease weekly. my schedule is probably excessive but i am of the better safe than sorry program

I run 15,000mi or less intervals with my Volvo D16 motor. Oil doesn't even start to get slightly dark until 10k usually.
    Mobil Delvac 1300

I go by hours as I'm in a lot of lineups and some off road. 650 hrs, which works out to close to 17,000 miles and grease every two weeks. DD15 Detroit manual says 640 hrs or 25,000 miles for severe duty. I do oil analysis every change and use Shell T6 5W40 synthetic.

Construction company I used to work for had us change oil in the rigs every 10,000 MI. we used the Napa store brand oil (which is just Valvoline w/o the label) and bought it by the barrel.
