You would assume that someone trying to look into working with them as an employer they would update their info on their site lol. That's what you get for assuming right lol.coastal has some nice international trucks I keep looking into. Sage schooling is virtually around the corner from coastal too.

My issue along with many others are me wanting to either bring the truck home or a drop yard within reasonable driving distance.ill have to research these and see what they are about and their req are. (Apu,inverters,benefits, ride long program,etc etc) not concerned about the pay as we all no little to none lol

With the tanker outfits can make over $60K but don't allow riders.

Melton Truck Lines has Tripac Apu and allows riders, pets; the negative is driver facing cameras.
Navajo has APU, inverter, pets, rider.
Just have to make some phone calls about other issues such as taking truck home.

Going through companies and looking at their req is def taking up a lot of time doing research, but you have to do it for you and your newborn.. congrats!! I too am in San Antonio and have a few things I'm trying to figure out like Kllm/ffe,Schneider dedicated, and a couple others on the outside of Dallas, for at least a year and get the experience and def be good to get local but for me local is too much hassle lol.

New as of June 1, 2015 pay for all new hires without five years experience will be mandatory guarenteed pay per day program. First 90 days you get $110 a day 3-9 months $115 then 9-12 months $120 per day. This is regardless miles run, no matter what if you are available to work you get paid the rate nothing more nothing less. After year you start at .35 per mile. That's how they are trying to sell it as a pos. doesn't really work for me in my calculations but for others might be great. Orientation is 2 days, basic stuff, a lot of things that shouldn't have taken a lot of time took too much time, or HOS, FMCSA regs eft...

The company does provide transportation to terminal from home for orientation on form of bus ticket or reimbursing you for fuel. Also get put up in a hotel, nothing fancy just a room, but it's free and trans to and from terminal every day. Don't think you are going to leave orientation on second day and hit the road, they won't issue your truck until next day so you can get at least 10 hr break. I have to fly to Denver from TN to get my tractor as there are only day cans and coffin sleepers at this terminal. Orientation is a video conference with Denver office. Could probably condenced it into one day but some aren't as knowledgable as others and it goes at the pace of the slowest learner.

That's all i can think of now if any questions ask I will try and answer. I will try and update as I go. Just a FYI seems like there is currently a huge change in management, as a lot of upper level managers I was introduced to had only been here a couple weeks or a month or so. Will be interesting to talk to other drivers and see what changes are taking place and their opinion(taken with a bag of salt obviously).

My name is Thomas, you can call me Texas Boy as some of my old military friends called me. I am a veteran, served with the 173rd Airborne Brigade in the Army as an Intel Analyst. I left service in 2012 due to a gen/ w honorable discharge and have since been hopping from job to job in the civilian world over here in San Antonio Tejas, dealing with jobs such as customer service and sales.. None of which I never saw myself doing. But as I have lost my TS security clearance it was really my only choice given the training I had in the military.

Well I just turned 23 last week and decided now that I was of age for most trucking companies to give it a shot and go for my CDL. I've always loved to drive far and long and have been driving since I was 13, regular cars, not trucks. Pops had me drive state to state when I was a kid when we traveled.. Not safe but oh well, I liked it.

After doing my research and weighing pros and cons, calling numerous companies, and making sure I had enough finances and time available, I have chosen to go through paid training through CR England in Dallas...

Yup.. CR England.. Why you ask?

Well after researching and calling the bigger companies, they wanted people with at least 3 - 6 months OTR before giving me a chance, as well as a CDL License. Most paid CDL companies (In my area)..(That I have available) wanted 1 year contracts and definitely were not going to pay out well in the long run. And CR England is the only one (Locally) that will accept me doing a 6 month contract as a way of paying back the school and training. Plus I have a 17 day old son at the house that I would love to see and be around more after those 6 months.

So I have made up my mind. I will go to this dreaded school that everyone talks about while my gf works back home so we can have 2 streams of income for the bills until I get these 6 months out of the way ASAP and move on to the greener pastures that everyone talks about. Preferably Schneider, Roehl, or TMC as I heard they take care of their drivers well.. And of course anything locally in SA that is good for home time and pay would work as well.

Well I just wanted to say hi to everyone and introduce myself to yall. I'm hoping for a very positive and uplifting career change for not only me but my family.. AFTER CR England.. and hope to have a great time on the forum with yall!

Check into Henderson my man. Great program with decent pay starting out. Much better then England. Much much much better.
